Health/Wellness Education
Dear Parent/Guardian and Student,
The 7th grade will continue learning about the CESU Health Education curriculum at BRMS. This class will meet three times a week for 60 minutes during either the first, second, third or fourth quarter. The students will receive their grades on their report cards at the end of the trimester in which they had health.
The class content is based on National Standards for Health Education.
Topic and skills taught may include:
- Health and Wellness Triangle project
- Goal setting and decision making
- Healthy friendships
- Anti-drug information: effects on the body, brain development, refusal skills and natural highs
- Media influences
- Six nutrient groups
- Food choices and portion management
- Personal nutrition and physical activity
- Food safety and prep
- Cooking
Activities will include:
- Drug Information Research and Teaching
- Computer Research
- Projects and discussions
- Multimedia
- Cooking in the kitchen labs
