You have made it through Elementary, Junior High, and now you are in High School! Your first year of high school is a big transition. Attend zooms daily, ask questions and get involved. That is The Bulldog Way.
Mrs. Nunes (your Learning Director) is available for meetings with you and you guardians! A letter was sent out to all 9th graders as well as 5 Questions for all 9th graders to ask themselves. Please review the document and reach out to schedule a meeting.
Attendance is crucial: You must attend every zoom class session. Missing zoom means missing instruction
Complete and turn in your homework/classwork: Complete work before due dates. If you're absent, make sure to ask the teacher for any missed work.
Focus on grades: Grades matter in high school. No part of your college application carries more weight than the courses you take and the grades you earn. College may seem like a ways away, but it will be here quickly!
Get help if you need it: If you're struggling in a class, ask your teacher for help. Attend Intervention Wednesdays, teacher office hours, or tutoring.
Get involved: 9th grade is an opportunity to take advantage of everything that CHS has to offer. YOU could be just what that sports team or organization needs to take it to the next level. Just remember to keep at least a 2.0 GPA.
Meet with your Learning Director. Get to know your Learning Director by meeting with her at least once a quarter. Use this opportunity to discuss life after high school. Remember your counselor is your advocate. She is here to support you and help you reach your fullest potential.
Start exploring colleges and career options. Go to CCGI to complete a career interest inventory. You don't have to know what you want to do after high school, but it's important to begin to think about your interests.
The options are endless. Your job is to learn and decide what career you want to have. Depending on what you plan to do after high school, you might have to meet certain requirements (A-G, ASVAB, etc). That is where your Learning Director comes in. Communicate with Mrs. Nunes so that you can ensure you're on track. Ask questions and plan ahead. That is how you can be successful!
