École Claudette-et-Denis-Tardif is currently housed in a starter school, a school comprised of modular units, designed to be a temporary solution until a permanent school is built.
Not only is the current building at full capacity, it does not have a gymnasium or a library. For gym class, students walk to the neighbouring school bringing equipment with them. Since the gym is shared between two schools, this means there is limited access to the gym for École Claudette-et-Denis-Tardif students.
The library is currently located in the hallway. When students need a little extra help, they work with a support person in the hallway, which has many distractions as their friends and schoolmates walk by.
With the construction of this new school, École Claudette-et-Denis-Tardif students will finally have access to school facilities that are comparable to their fellow students in Sherwood Park.

The site was recently REZONED from AD (Agriculture Future Development) and PR (Recreation) to Public Services (PS). This allows for the school to be developed here.
Ecole Claudette-et-Denis-Tardif is designed as a hybrid of 21st Century and Traditional Learning Environments.
This school is being designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
The maximum height of the school will not exceed 10.8 metres (35.4 feet). The zoning allows for height up to 20 metres.
Minimum School Parking = 66 stalls,
Minimum Daycare Parking = 14 stalls
Total Provided Stalls = 90
6 Student Drop-off Stalls
90% of Students are expected to take the bus to school
4 permanent parking lots will be reserved for the park's future play area.
The School will have more than sufficient on site parking for all staff. Also, all bus and parent drop off lanes and parking are designed to be on school property, in an effort to minimize street traffic.
The School will allow the use of the on site parking for the community after school hours. This will help alleviate any street parking for people using Florian Park.
The existing “fire truck” themed playground is under evaluation by Strathcona County. The new school will have access to playground funding and plans to build a new playground near the school immediately after construction is complete. This new playground will be available to the public after school hours.
