École Claudette-et-Denis-Tardif is currently a K-7 francophone public school with 191 students enrolled and growing. In March 2015, the Conseil scolaire Centre-Nord (CSCN) met with parents in the Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan regions to assess the interest of opening a new school for the 2015-2016 school year. This initiative generated so much enthusiasm within the Francophone community of the greater Strathcona County region that the CSCN began looking for temporary premises to house the school. Although a few options were created, none were able to materialize in time for the start of the school year in September 2015.

Thus, with the support of the Ministry of Education, the CSCN had to open Claudette- et-Denis-Tardif in temporary spaces at La Cité francophone for the 2015-2016 year. As of September 2016, the CSCN succeeded in establishing a partnership with the New Horizons charter school, located in the former St. Theresa school, allowing Claudette-et-Denis-Tardif to establish itself in Sherwood Park.

The school chose a peacock as its logo. First of all, this proud animal symbolizes the nature and wildlife found in the school zone. Second, the peacock's body and wings form a fleur-de-lis, reminding us that a francophone education strengthens the student's cultural and linguistic identity. Finally, the bright colors, the rounded lines and the posture of the bird reflect the dynamism of the school and its community.

When École Claudette-et-Denis-Tardif replacement school was announced, there were limited sites available in Sherwood Park for development. École Claudette-et-Denis-Tardif is a school that caters to a large geographic area encompassing a good portion of Strathcona County, Sherwood Park and surrounding region. It was preferable to select a site easily accessible from Highway 21 to reduce the ride times for students traveling from Fort Saskatchewan and rural Strathcona County.

The Florian Park school site was just big enough to allow the construction of a small school, therefore it was logical to attribute this site to the Francophone school as a Catholic or Public school would be too large.
