    • Rio Vista Choir Winter Recital (December 8th):

  • Choir Uniforms/Dresses: Information will be given to students this week. Students will have a sizing information sheet and will need to provide their requested dress size for concert uniforms.

  • FMCMEA Honor Choir:

  • Fundraisers

    • Rio Vista Choir T-Shirts (Ended): Our 17-member choir has successfully sold over 30 choir t-shirts, which passes our goal! These choir t-shirts will be required for select performances this year. IF you would like to order another shirt at this point, please contact Mr. Sanchez. Thank you!

September 13th, 2021

Hello Rio Vista choir families!

I wanted to take time to share the following information to our choir parents. Our website has been updated to include information on the following:

  • Rio Vista Choir T-Shirts: They are finally ready for order! Information will be given to each of our choir members on September 14th. Each student will be given an order form+envelope. $25 dollars per shirt. Final Payments must be received by Thursday, September 30th.

  • Calendar Updates: The "November Fresno City Choir Performance" (Concert Singers/Period 2) is currently pending based on information from the host. Fresno City College, the host of the festival has been determining campus visits based on vaccination statuses (which is difficult to determine for visiting choirs from around the valley). Additionally, Central Unified School District's Visual and Performing Arts district has asked that all field trips be suspended based on the grounds of: funds, available bus drivers, and COVID-restrictions. Mr. Sanchez will determine the status of this performance by September 17th (Friday).

  • FMCMEA Honor Choir: Information has been posted on the Rio Vista website and calendar. Students interested in FMCMEA Honor Choir must be approved by Mr. Sanchez. This is open to both choirs.

  • Choir Uniforms/Dresses (Period 2 Concert Singers Only): Choir Uniforms will be assigned and distributed during the week of September 27th. Please review the choir uniform page on our Rio Vista Website. Each member was provided a uniform contract in their handbook. We will be using our choir uniforms for our December 8th Performance and Spring Festivals.

Thank you for your continued support this year!

Sincerely,

Mr. Sanchez

August 24, 2021:

  • Calendar has been updated for Spring Festival Events (Concert Singers/Advanced Choir Only)!

Students, Parents, & Guardians–

Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year!

My name is Matthew Sanchez and I am the choir director at Rio Vista Middle School in Central Unified School District. I am from Clovis, California and have earned my undergraduate from Fresno State in Music Education with emphasis in Music Performance and Music Composition. I have hopes of pursuing a masters in music performance, eventually earning a doctorate as well. I am currently in my fifth year as a secondary music teacher and have been an employee with Central Unified since 2012.

I am very passionate about music in all mediums and am excited to continue advancing music education in the Central Valley. It is my goal to share my passion and dedication with all of you.

Thank you so much for supporting the arts and allowing each student to share their talents in making great music and learning with one another.
