Navigating Canvas
Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) used K-12 in District 301. This platform allows teachers to establish an online classroom where they can share information, resources, assignments and more with their students. Your student will have a course for each teacher on their schedule. They access the courses through their Canvas Dashboard. As a parent, you can become an observer of your student's account. You will be able to see all courses they are enrolled in within your own Dashboard. Directions on how to create your observer account, and tutorials for features you find in Canvas are below.
Week at a Glance
For the 2021 - 2022 school year, every Canvas course will have a homepage that contains a "week at a glance" chart. This will give you an overview of what is being learned in class, possible homework assignments as well as links for Google Meet (video call) session(s). Canvas Parent Accounts
As a parent/guardian, you can create an account where you can observe your student(s) in all of their courses. When you create your account, you will pair your account with your student's account using a pairing code. Directions on how to create your account, or add an additional student to your account, are below.

Accessing Canvas Using Your Parent/Guardian Account
Parents can access their accounts in two ways, through a website or app. The website version mimics what your child sees when they log into Canvas. The app focuses more on assignments, events and course front pages. It is up to you to choose how you would like to access Canvas.

Students Accessing Canvas Accounts
Students will need to log into Canvas to start their day and enter the course they need.
Returning students can access their courses through their Canvas bookmark. For those new to the district, or without a bookmark, they will access Canvas from Launchpad (found in the 301 Bookmarks folder), or the Canvas link on the district homepage.
