Deciding whether or not to take a course as a blended option is a decision that you and your student should discuss. Blended courses allow students more flexibility and control over when they choose to learn. In addition, it exposes students to the online learning environments they are likely to experience in college.
While the curriculum and assessments are the same for both blended and traditional courses, the content delivery varies. Students are required to work more independently, they need to advocate for themselves, they need to be comfortable working in an online environment, and they need to have strong problem solving skills. Students also need to remember that with freedom comes greater responsibilities.
The two different types of blended learning time are called "seat time" and "online time."
Seat Time: Required to meet in the classroom.
Online time: Time not required to be in classroom
