Taking Care of the iPad & MacBook
Students are responsible for the general care of the iPad or MacBook they have been issued by the school. iPads & MacBooks that are broken or fail to work properly will be evaluated by the Central School technology support staff.
General Precautions
Students are required to keep their iPad or MacBook in the cover and sleeve provided by the school
Only use a clean, soft cloth to clean the screen--don't use cleansers of any type
Cords and cables must be inserted carefully into the iPad & MacBook to prevent damage
Student iPads & MacBooks must remain free of any writing, drawing, stickers, or labels that are not property of the Central Community School
Students are responsible for keeping their iPad or MacBook secured at all times. Locks are available in the district office
Students are responsible for their iPad or MacBook both in and out of school, including extracurricular events
Students are responsible for keeping their iPad or MacBook's battery charged for school each day
Students must not remove any Central Community School labels
Carrying the iPad & MacBook
The protective sleeve provided with the student iPad or MacBook has sufficient padding to protect the iPad & MacBook from normal treatment and provide a suitable means for carrying the device. The iPad & MacBook should always be within the protective cover and sleeve when carried
Books, folders, pens, pencils and other items should be kept away from the iPad & MacBook to avoid placing too much pressure and weight on the screen
Screen Care
The iPad & MacBook screens are particularly sensitive to damage from excessive pressure on the screen
Do not lean on the top of the iPad or MacBook
Do not place anything near the iPad or MacBook that could put pressure on the screen
Do not place anything in the sleeve that will press against the cover
Clean the screen with a soft, dry cloth or anti-static cloth
Do not "bump" the iPad or MacBook against lockers, walls, car doors, floors, etc. as it will eventually break the screen
Storing the iPad & MacBook
When students are not using their iPad or MacBook, they should be stored securely. The Central Community School District recommends that students use a lock available in the district office
Nothing should be placed on top of the iPad & MacBook when stored in the locker
Students are encouraged to take their iPad or MacBook home every day after school, regardless of whether or not they are needed
Student's iPad or MacBook should not be stored in a student’s vehicle at school or at home
Students who need a secure place to store their iPad or MacBook may check it in for storage in the junior-senior high school library
iPads & MacBooks Left in Unsupervised Areas
Under no circumstances should student iPads & MacBooks be left in unsupervised areas. Unsupervised areas include the school grounds and campus, the commons area, locker rooms, library, unlocked classrooms, hallways, and unlocked lockers. Any student iPad or MacBook left in these areas is in danger of being stolen
If a student iPad or MacBook is found in an unsupervised area, including an unlocked locker, it will be taken to the district office. The following disciplinary steps will be put into place:
1st Offense - Loss of iPad or MacBook use for five (5) school days
2nd Offense - Loss of iPad or MacBook use for ten (10) school days
3rd Offense - Loss of iPad or MacBook use for remainder of school year
