We had to create a poster for elements and principle. I choose to do shape because I felt it would be the easiest. If I could change one thing I would add more and different shapes, I like the different colors I used. I think the typography goes well to because it is like a shape.
Our project was to make an expressive typography quote, my quote came from Kurt Cobain. He is my biggest inspiration and one of the people I look up to the most, it is sad he is no longer with us. My idea for it was to make something with kind of a punk or goth vibe. I feel like I did a very good job with the roses and black background also the skeleton. I was very pleased with the skeleton playing the guitar because the skeleton represents Kurt Cobain and he is dead then there was the guitar and he Kurt Cobain was a singer so I feel like it represented that very well. If I had to change something I would put the glasses the Kurt Cobain used to always wear on the skeleton so you could tell that it was supposed to be him.
Our project was to make a geotag filter for different areas in DeWitt, the first place I had was downtown DeWitt. For downtown I wanted to make it more urban looking, so I used a graffiti font for the words which I thought was really cool, then I made a water tower and put the symbol up there because that is what DeWitt's logo is and downtown is the big crossroad in the middle. Like I said I wanted to make it seem more urban and one of the first things I think of for urban is graffiti that is why I used that font. I was really pleased with the font I used. I would want to make it more complex because what I have right now is very plain and simple.
My second geotag filter to create was for the library, for this one I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. I thought it was going to be really hard but once I got started it was pretty easy. I just want to iClipart and looked up books and found this cool picture of someone holding a blank book, that was perfect because all I did was add text in the book that said Frances Banta Waggoner Community Library and DeWitt, IA. For the text I started with it was really hard to read so I had to change it to one that is more easy to read. I was really pleased on how easy it was to but also mine look really simple. If I could change something I would spend more time on it outside of class and worked on more than trying to finish it in class.
This project was to create an expressive self portrait, I liked this one because it was about me and I could put everything I liked on to it. I first thought of everything that was meaningful to me, I wasn’t sure how to lay it out so I just made into a collage. We had to download and use a brush from Brush Kings and I didn’t know how I was going to implement that into my project. The pictures I used are Kurt Cobain, Jean Michel Basquiat, Notre Dame, The Kansas City Chiefs, and A painting by Jean Michel Basquiat. I used a picture I took of myself. There was not really a goal for this I just used pictures that I think mean a lot to me. I was pleased with how I used the brush. I don’t think I would change anything I really liked my project.
We had to make a propaganda poster about an issue, my topic was aids. This was the first issue that came to my mind so I did it. I had to research facts about it but that wasn’t to hard. I used a broken graph chart because I thought about how our lives are not just some statistic, it s actual people that have a serious problem. I think instead of just making everyone a statistic we should care about them more. I didn’t want to fancy typography I just wanted something that would stand out. I was pleased with everything, I liked my final project. I could change it and try to make it stand out more.
This project was to create a typography portrait of someone or something, I choose to do lil peep. He is my favorite artist and he recently passed away from an overdose. I didn’t really have to brainstorm who I wanted to do because I knew I wanted to do him. The first thing I did was find a picture of him, then I made a document and put in the titles of his songs and some lyrics. I tried to get all of his songs down but and I think I did a good job of that. This project was very frustrating and I liked that, it was a challenge and that’s what made it fun. I’m pleased with everything about the project, I think it looks really cool. If had to change something I might of did an easier picture of a cartoon character because I think a cartoon would be much easier than an actual person.
