Theodore Fox ''Private''
9x6 Clay 2019
My idea for this project came from just looking at google of different pottery artworks. I saw something like this but it was a monster looking thing. I have no idea why I did a penguin the idea just came to me. Also another one I saw was sculpture Picasso and his was like a lizard. I think all of this is pretty new to me I don't have very much experience with ceramics but so far i'm really enjoying it. I think something I learned is how to mold clay in to bowl with the pinch technique. One challenge was I thought i was going to be able to do the pinch technique for the whole base but it didn't work so I pinched as much as I could and added slabs on top. I would of cleaned up the beak I thought it was going to look cool for some reason with the glaze smeared but now it just looks sloppy. I love how cute it looks I didn't think it would look as good as it does.Theodore Fox ''Iowa Hawkeyes''
Plate 0.5x9
Bowl 2x9
Mug 3.5x4 Clay 2019
I started with the plate and rolled out clay then put it on top of a bowl to curve the edges like most plates are then I carved the ''Iowa'' in the middle. For the mug I made slabs then scored and slipped them together and carved the hawk logo in it. I made the handle an ''I'' because I thought that would look good since it is Iowa. For the bowl I used the pinch technique to make it into a bowel then carved ''Go Hawks'' into it. I learned how to glaze the small letters with smaller brushers to make it look nicer. On my first mug the I handle fell off so I had to make a whole new mug that was a challenge in the process of this project. one thing I would change is I would make the bowl smaller because it is to big to eat cereal out of. My favorite one is the mug because I really like the handle and how the glazing turned out.Theodore Fox ''Clown Mask''
8x6 Clay 2019
We started with a face mold and molded all the features of the face into the clay like the eyes the nose and the mouth but the mouth didn't really show. I smoothed the clay out to make the face look better then just shaped the features more to what looked good to me. I learned to mold things with each other like the face mold and clay putting them together. I started a face before this one but it got messed up and looked weird so then I started over with this one and I really wasn't sure what I wanted to put on the face. I might change the colors I used for the clown and make it look like more of nicer clown because it looks creepy. I really like how all the features of the face turned out on it and it looks really neat, I would say i'm satisfied with how it turned out.Theodore Fox ''Happy Bracelet''
2.5x2 Nylon Twine and beads bracelet 2019
I wanted to do something that would represent happiness and I saw the bead with the smiley face and I couldn't of found another better representation. I got my idea from the Lokai bracelets that are popular nowadays. I really like those bracelets. I had to use a wire to get the beads on because the nylon was to wide for the beads. and then I tied the twine on the end because the nylon was to small for my wrist. I learned how to make a bracelet in this project and that is something i've never done before. A challenge I faced was getting the beads on because it was really difficult to put them on the nylon so I used a wires and tied that to the nylon then put the wire through the bead and pulled it on. I would of put more effort in to and made it as perfect as I could because I tried to rush it. I love that it gives me a good feeling and reminds me of just living a free life I don't know why but that is the the feeling it gives me. It just reminds of being happy and not having care in the world because i'm only in high school and should be living life to the fullest.
