Plaster Mask
Plaster Mask 2017
Emily MIller “Super Saber Kitty ”
My mask is “11.5”long “8” wide and “1” tall. The materials I used to make my mask were plaster, acrylic paint, glitter, pearls, pipe cleaners, gold rope, earrings with the backs cut off, and feathers. 2017.My idea of how I wanted my mask was way different from what my mask looks like now I. First I started off wanting just a saber pride cat with a pear headband then I changed it and made a super saber kitty with lots of purple and gold and put the pears everywhere.
You should know that this is supposed to symbolize our school mascot, a saber toothed tiger and our school colors are purple and gold.If I started my mask over I would try harder to make the glitter stay on the yellow paint.I love how there are so many different materials that are gold and purple but my favorite thing is the pearls that outline the ears.
Batik Oil Pastel and Watercolor Resistant
Emily Miller “Glowing Cat
“12x18” Oil Pastel, Watercolor Paint, Hot Glue on paper, 2017
I came up with the idea of a cat flower by my love of cute kittens so I thought of doing a kitten flowing out of flowers and waves then I decided to do a cat flower and it turned out really weird but cool then once I painted over it in black watercolor it look way better.
When my audience sees this I want them to think of a cat growing on the darkness of night and thriving on the moon.
If I could start over I would change that there's a cat in it and I would just have it be flowers growing in darkness.
I love how there’s light colors but the watercolor paint makes it look dark and like it is glowing.
Perspective Drawing
Emily Miller “Dreams”
“12x18,” Graphite on Paper, 2017
First developed this idea by thinking of what kind of a bed I wanted after I figured that out I placed and put the side table down the rest was I things I wanted in my own bedroom and put I put them in an organized manner once that as finished I thought about how the back wall was empty and how I always wanted a bay window so I placed that down after.
When my audience looks at this I want them to think of their own dream room and what that would look like compared to mine.
If I could start over I would have more details and designs on the side table and how the entertainment center looks like it's in the wall then put the bed legs on correctly and keep the rest.
I love the entertainment center and how it turned out also the I loved the bay window how it looks realistic.
Ceramics
Emily MIller “Sick old Person”
“8x5x1/2” Earthenware Clay and glass, 2017
My idea developed over the weeks of construction by first i thought I wanted a very abstract face so I made the facial features spread around in unusual places and then it all came together.
Constructive methods that I used were having pieces around the facial features be on top of the face on adding extra shapes to the face.
My audience should know that this was supposed to be a sick and elderly person.
If I could start over I would make the face smaller so I would have time to paint it all. I would also make the textures more noticeable by putting more pressure on it while putting the designer on.
I love how abstract and different mine was from other peoples face.
