Most of the problem(s) was deciding what I wanted to next. For example, after I made the 'leaf-tip-brush', I didn't know what I wanted to do with the stick/handle part.
When I was thinking, I thought of moss or vines, overgrowth basically. So, I decided to make it look like the brush was 'overtaken' by nature. But given that it's just a logo, I couldn't really say much about the meaning behind it, and that it's simply a brush 'consumed' by Mother Nature. Honestly, I'm proudest about the vines and the (hard to see) lines in the leaf, because those took the most amount of time to complete. Though, I can't really think of anything I'd want to change other than... maybe a few other details like paint on it, or 'magic' of the sort, because someone told me it looked like a wand the other day (from now, March 11th).
Like the last one, I was having trouble deciding what I wanted to add next, and it's the same with my second program as I'm writing this. But otherwise, there were never really any problems for me.
I was going for a more traditional and formal look, trying to make my work look more 'professional' and such, to make it seem like the school itself made it, which is nice and formal.
I felt that formality was key for this one, seeing how important it is to show the important parts of the program sheet (e.g Administrators' Occupations), using bold text and the fancier font, as well as some being bigger than others.
I'm honestly am pleased with the background and how I used different pieces (such as the hands), of one side onto the other so the hands and hats didn't repeat.
I would most likely change some of the hands, as that's all I have to really 'complain about'. For example, the ones on the left and right that are holding the caps.
I was having a tough time trying to figure out what 'unique look' or 'item' (the wheat, cap, and 'scroll') I wanted to put on it, otherwise it'd be a bland piece of paper with no creativity put into it.
I thought of the meaning that the 'laurel crown' had behind it, or the 'wheat' so to speak, as it looks like that, that's why I call it wheat (and because I didn't know the name).
To me it's nothing too special, but I did use "Iowan Old Style" both for the convenience of the name, and just because it looked & sounded good for the Program paper. Especially because Central DeWitt is in Iowa. Wheat is related to corn, or at least what we grow, so that's why I also used the 'Leaflets'.
Mainly, most of what I said in the sentence(s) above this one. Such as the Leaflets and the Iowan Old Style text font all being related to each other, or at least in my brain it made sense.
To be honest, at the moment I'm writing this I can't think of anything I'd change except maybe something in the background or maybe the placement of text, or even the 'objects' I put in the middle-front and bottom of the back; I don't know, not much I'd change currently
The problem was basically the whole thing and where I was going to go next. The background was rushed because I didn't get the image I needed, but I'll most likely send an updated version along with this one soon.
It was quite simple, but as I said, didn't get executed very well. I had this fun idea that I simply changed ad built onto along the way, and I actually plan to write a story about this poster one day!
I didn't really like any of it as I built it, because I just didn't know what I wanted. But, I definitely do like the name and the stuff at the bottom of the poster including the date, feels smart!
Like I said before, the stuff at the bottom, and definitely the Overgrown Wand in the middle. You can find a much better picture of it at the top of this page, but I'm very pleased with it, especially in its creation.
I would definitely change the text and background image, and the placement of text. Probably when I have better knowledge of where I want things to be and what I want to implement into the work, in the future.
Believe it or not, I made a nice iMovie 'Trailer' for the Films Productions at the bottom of the poster, here is the video!
