Introduction
Students will create a visual to use during their pitch presentation. This might consist of a poster that shows their logo and product, or could be designed digitally in PowerPoint. Students may include some financial information in the visual, but the focus should be on marketing their idea.
Preparation Needed for the Activity:
Materials needed: Poster materials and markers, or computers with PowerPoint to create digital posters.
Part 1 - The Art of Advertising: 30-40min
Students will make signs to be used during their pitch presentations. The signs should:
Include a catchy name for the concession stand that makes it clear what is being sold,
Incorporate a nice color scheme, and a logo that looks attractive and relates to the product,
Be clear and readable by the entire class,
Be no larger than a standard poster, or consist of no more than 2 PowerPoint slides.
Part 2 - Teacher feedback: 10-20 min
While the groups are working on their visuals, you should check on progress, ask about the design, and verify that the goals and components in part 1 are being met. Remind students that they will have only 2 minutes to present to the Sharks, and their visual should help them with that presentation.
