Cedarburg High School Vocal Music
Welcome to the CHS
Vocal Music Department
Vocal Music Department
We're excited you're here! Participation in choral/vocal music at Cedarburg High School (CHS) provides students with opportunities to experience that team spirit in a safe music setting; work through new challenges and grow together; and make lasting memories.
A significant amount of research speaks to the value of music education and the benefits it offers students in other academic areas (creativity, math, language) as well as social emotional skills (self-esteem, collaboration). It's rewarding to be part of a program that simultaneously engages students in their learning and positively impacts well-being.
All CHS choral groups perform three times per year in Cedarburg's state-of-the-art performing arts center (CPAC). We offer a Fall Concert in October, Winter Concert in December and the Spring Sing & Senior Recognition Night in May.
In addition to classroom music exploration and studies, vocal music students are given the opportunity to participate in numerous events throughout the year beyond the regular concert season. These can include field trips, master classes, workshops/festivals, the winter musical, Solo & Ensemble Festival, radio performances, school tours, and performances for both school and various community functions. Learn more about these opportunities.
CHS Vocal Music Goals (Drafted in 1993)

To become a competent user of musical notation and the singing mechanism
To become a sensitive and spirited performer
To wholly experience quality music
CHS Music Department Mission (Per CHS Course Guide)
The Cedarburg High School Music Department seeks to offer students the opportunity to develop well rounded musicians through a progressive curriculum addressing all stages of development. Quality performance is a direct bi-product of a consistent approach in process, with the journey through music literacy, history, culture, rehearsal skills and critical listening as important as the destination of successful performance. We foster an atmosphere of team building, achieved through the common goal of commitment to practice, music exploration and collaborative music making.
