CHS winter musical
guest performers, directors and master classes

Wisconsin Choral Directors Association (WCDA) All-State Choirs - Treble Clef Choir, Bass Clef Choir, A Cappella Pop Choir and Vocal Jazz Ensemble
Per the WCDA All-State Website:
All-State Choir celebrates some of our best young singers in the state. The event is open to students from fourth grade through college, and is part of the WCDA Conference in January. Students are chosen based on director nominations and should be trustworthy, skilled musicians who demonstrate academic prowess, intrinsic motivation, and focus in rehearsal. In All-State, students get the opportunity to work with some of the nation’s best teacher-conductors, culminating in a final performance to the public. The All-State Choirs challenge students to push their musicianship to a new level while giving them the joy and satisfaction of getting to sing alongside other distinguished musicians.
Wisconsin School of Music Association (WSMA) Honors Choir Project
The WSMA State Honors Music Project is a nationally recognized program and one of the finest opportunities available to young musicians. Membership in this project is an exceptional addition to any college application, regardless of your future major. Students selected for the program will have one of the most enriching musical and personal experiences of their lives. Students participate in an intensive and mandatory four-day summer camp in June. Their work culminates in a performance in Madison during late October as part of the Wisconsin State Music Conference.
Singing in Wisconsin - WCDA
Singing in Wisconsin (SIW) is a festival that is perfect for those students who just love to sing regardless of ability. This special event typically takes place at four sites throughout Wisconsin on the second weekend of November.
Wisconsin District and State Solo & Ensemble Festival
Drawing in more than 100,000 students each year from across the state, through the Solo & Ensemble experience, students learn the discipline of rehearsal, are challenged to advance their musical skills, perform in front of an audience and adjudicator, and receive feedback on their performance. Participation is optional but highly recommended for vocal growth and confidence-building.
Bass Clef Choir
This choir is open to all tenors and basses within the vocal and instrumental programs as well as ALL students at CHS. Rehearsals take place Tuesday mornings during Resource a month or so before our fall, winter and spring concert. This choir sings everything from traditional choral literature to pop, jazz and musical theatre. No experience is necessary, just a positive and fun attitude! :)
Vocal Arts Festival - UW-Milwaukee
The Vocal Arts Festival provides an opportunity for skilled high school singers to interact with, perform for, and join their voices with peers from around the region. Participants have the chance to learn and grow as both soloists and choral artists. Students will:
Rehearse and perform with the Vocal Arts Festival Honor Choir, including a final performance in UWM’s Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts.
Work on a prepared solo with UWM voice faculty and guest artists in a masterclass or mini-lesson (accompanist provided).
Attend classes and interest sessions on topics related to vocal performance.
Attend performances of opera and musical theater scenes, choral music, and vocal solos given by UWM faculty and students.
