The Lilypad branch gets together once a week to read with Grade 2 students . During these one-to-one teaching sessions, upper school students help their buddies strengthen their reading and comprehension skills. By focusing discussion questions towards bigger themes, Grade 2s are able to transfer the messages from their readings to the real world. These meetings also allow older students to gain valuable experiences as educators and leaders by providing opportunities for them to work towards organising lesson plans and executing them in an engaging way. Lilypad’s program is one that builds a connection between the upper and lower school students, all of whom gain important hard and soft skills, including collaboration, communication, and creativity, in the process.
