The ‘Best YouTube Channel Awards’ is a youth-driven campaign designed to foster a healthier YouTube ecosystem. More than just selecting top channels, this initiative serves as an educational program where students learn and practice digital responsibility through YouTube literacy training and discussions. After receiving structured education, students engage in discussions and evaluate YouTube channels based on educational value, ethics, and public interest. Every year, they vote to determine the Top 10 Best YouTube Channels, recognizing content that positively contributes to the digital space. This process helps them understand the interconnected relationship between content consumption and production, emphasizing that responsible viewing shapes a healthier digital environment. The materials include a set of evaluation criteria developed by CDL, based on broadcasting and content moderation guidelines, ensuring that students assess YouTube channels through an informed and ethical lens. By participating in structured debates and voting, students develop critical media analysis skills, gain awareness of ethical content consumption, and become responsible digital citizens who actively contribute to a positive YouTube culture.
YouTube is the most widely used digital media platform among children and teenagers. It serves as a space where young users acquire knowledge, engage in digital activities, and participate in society as digital citizens. To ensure that YouTube contributes to a healthier online culture, Google’s YouTube team and the Center for Digital Literacy (CDL) have launched the ‘Hit Pause’ campaign, aimed at raising awareness and preventing cyberbullying. The ‘Hit Pause’ campaign was designed to not only address harmful comments but also highlight unintentional forms of cyberbullying, encouraging responsible online behavior. To make this initiative practical and accessible for educators, CDL collaborated with Chamsam School to develop an educational program that seamlessly integrates with primary and secondary school curricula. The program includes lesson plans, activity worksheets, and teacher guides, allowing educators to implement the campaign as a three-session or eight-session course. These resources are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to identify, prevent, and respond to cyberbullying, fostering a more inclusive and respectful digital environment. We encourage educators to utilize these materials in classrooms to empower students as responsible digital citizens.
The Metaverse Ethical Practices Educational Materials have been designed to provide structured guidance for different stakeholders in the metaverse ecosystem. These resources include:
Developer & Provider Education Materials for platform developers and service providers
Creator Education Materials for digital content creators
User Education Materials tailored for high school students and adults
Youth Education Materials designed specifically for elementary and middle school students
The developer, creator, and user education materials are structured as one-hour lecture-based modules and include page-by-page scripts, making them easily accessible for educators and trainers. For elementary and middle school students, the materials are divided into an eight-session curriculum, each focusing on one of the eight core ethical principles of the metaverse. This includes interactive slides, activity sheets, and a teacher’s guide, all of which are aligned with subject-specific learning objectives to ensure integration into school curricula. Each teacher’s guide includes detailed scripts for every slide, along with practical classroom activities that promote ethical awareness in digital environments. Activity sheets can be downloaded and printed for student use, and educators are encouraged to incorporate the educational video resources designed for younger learners to enhance engagement. These materials aim to equip students, creators, and providers with the knowledge and responsibility needed to build a safer and more ethical metaverse, ensuring that digital spaces remain inclusive, respectful, and empowering for all users.
As AI technology accelerates digital transformation, there is an urgent need for education reform to reduce uncertainty and prepare for a sustainable future. In response, the Ministry of Education has strengthened digital literacy, AI, and software (SW) education as foundational competencies and has developed subject-integrated digital literacy educational materials for use in classrooms. This educational content is designed to enhance both subject-specific learning and digital literacy skills. It includes:
PPT lesson materials
Teacher’s activity guides
Student activity sheets
Instructional videos on digital tool usage
Teachers can download all materials from this platform and integrate them into their classroom lessons. Additionally, videos explaining digital tools are provided for students, available both on the website and in the resource handbook. The platform offers a total of 144 lessons, categorized by elementary, middle, and high school levels and aligned with specific subject areas. Teachers across all grade levels can freely access and utilize these resources. To effectively integrate digital literacy into subject-based lessons, educators need foundational knowledge of hardware and software. To support this, the "Fundamentals" category provides 23 foundational lessons, covering essential technical concepts by topic and grade level. This initiative aims to empower educators with the tools and resources needed to seamlessly integrate digital literacy into everyday classroom learning, fostering a generation of digitally competent and future-ready students.
