For my portrait painting, I decided to do a picture of Winnie the Pooh. I decided to do this as a mothers day gift to my mom. Winnie the Pooh has always been a show and movie that my mom holds close to her heart. She watched it with her dad, who passed away. I wanted to make her something that had meaning to her. I first outlined the characters with a pen and sheer paper. Then, I painted the background with different shades of blue and made it look like a night sky with different size paintbrushes. Then, I mixed yellow and white to paint the star and moon, and Winnie himself. Then I mixed pinks for Piglet. I went in with a brown gold paint pen, then for the faces and finer lines, a smaller brownish pen. I then added stars with a white paint pen. The most difficult thing for me was getting the colors just right. I had to use just trial and error to make sure everything was just how I wanted it. If I were to change anything, I would redo the sky, it got sort of messed up when I went in with the paint pen because it smeared. The style of art I used was realistic because these are real characters. I like painting things that have some form of meaning behind them and I love how this wasn't just for me. It made my mom extremely happy when I gave it to her, which means it made me very happy as well.
