Party Disguise

(3.5In x  5.5In)

Supplies- Mask mold, plaster, paint, feathers, hot glue, scissors, paintbrushes.

My inspiration for my mask was a picture from the internet I looked up half masks and a bunch came up but I only liked one it was white and gold and had swirls on it so I decided to make mine pink and have gold swirls instead. I added some extra features like painting in the nose but otherwise, that was my only source of inspiration.  First I sketched what I wanted my mask to look like. Second I used a face mold but I only plastered half of it and put layers of the plaster on it and let it dry. Third I picked my paint colors and painted by mask pink and added gold swirls and outlined them in white. Fourth I hot glued feathers onto my mask. Last I added finishing touches and I was done. How I problem solved was when I was painting I used the wrong paint color and I used a more purple instead of pink so I went and added white to the kind of purple color and it made a pink and it was the perfect color for my mask. Also when I went to paint the gold swirls I mixed to much white with the gold and it made a mustered color so I added a little more gold and mixed it in and it went back to the right gold. A creative risk I took was adding the feathers I really thought the feather would make it look bad so I decided to hot glue them on and they didn't look as bad as I expected so I was kind of happy with how it turned out. Another risk was making the face shape on the mold with the plaster I didn't think I could make the eyes go in so I almost did the whole face but now I think the half-face added way more to my mask. One thing I liked the most about my artwork was the colors I used I think the colors added on to my mask and made it better. I really liked how I outlined the gold swirls with white paint I think it made them catch my eyes a lot more. If I started over I would change the face shape a little because I wanted it to look different around the top and bottom of the face. Another thing I would change would be How I painted the nose I wish I could change that because I don’t like it very much I think it made the nose look bulky.

Asian Elephant

(18in x 12in)

Supplies- Watercolor Paper, Hot glue, Oil pastels, water, watercolor paint, Paintbrush

The Asian elephant is endangered because their tusks are worth a lot of money so hunters kill them and sell their tusks they also sell their meat and get a lot of money from that too. This elephant is found in Asia and there are not many of their kind left. The source of inspiration for my artwork is a picture from the internet I found a picture of an elephant and it inspired me to draw it so I decided that it was a good idea to do an elephant because I when Mrs.Butler told us we had to do an endangered animal and it was the first thing that came to my mind. The steps I took were first I drew the elephant, water, and sun on my paper. Second, I hot glued over all of the lines carefully. Third I picked out oil pastels and colored everything on my paper with them. Fourth I put the black watercolor and water mixture on my painting and rinsed it off. Last I framed it. How I problem solved was when I was coloring with oil pastels I forgot to put the paper under my hand and I got fingerprints all over my drawing so to fix this I colored over it with a darker color so it went away. One risk I took was I didn't look at a picture when I was drawing my elephant so I  didn't think it was going to turn out good but after I drew it I thought it looked better than I expected. Another risk I took was when I was coloring it because  I used light colors for the sunset instead of dark colors. The thing I like the most about my project was the elephant because it looks just how I expected it or even better than I imagined and I think it looks kind of realistic. If I could start over I would redo my sunset I don’t think it blends well and looks weird so I would change that and make it better.

Tri clops

Materials - clay, glaze, beads, paintbrush, net

My source of inspiration for this was the pictures on canvas they looked cool and I wanted to make mine kind of like that. My process of creating this was first I sketched my idea and wrote down what glaze colors I wanted to use, Second I got clay and made the shapes and added eyes, lips and a nose . Third I added patterns and textures. Last I put the glaze on it and it went in the kiln. The problem I faced with this is I couldn't get paint in the tiny edges also I couldn't decide what face shape I wanted to do. A risk I took was adding three eyes because I didn't know if it was going to look good or bad. The thing I like most about my work is the shape of the face. One thing I would change is the colors that I picked I wish I would have picked colors that popped more.

Magazine room

My source of inspiration for my work is the pictures that we got to see of other students and it made me wanna do a bedroom. First I will plan my room, Next, I will create the outline of my room then I started drawing my objects and putting them in places, Last I started shading and adding finishing touches. The problems I faced were one I could not get my dresser to look in perspective but I tried and I got it and it looks good. Another problem I faced was with shading I couldn't find a thing to shade to make my drawing look better. A creative risk I took was drawing flowers because I have never really been good at drawing flowers so I tried and they turned out pretty good. Another risk I took was drawing a dresser because when I tried it looked bad and It looked weird but then I practiced and figured it out. The thing I like most about my artwork is the furniture that I decided to put in it. One thing I would change is the lines because harder  I think if I would have tried harder to make the lines better the whole drawing would have looked way better.
