Maddie Adams "wave by the shore"
11 X 8.5 , Pencil , 2023
I was looking on Pintrest for simple ideas for a drawing. I came across one simalar to this and it caught my eye. It was very simple yet pretty. I knew that this would be a good drawing for my black and white.
The only tools I used was a pencil, sharpie and a blender. I used the pencil throughout the entire drawing to give it a that simple look. I shaded were i felt like it would look best, just like you can see on the tower. I decided to draw the birds in sharpie to make them pop just a little bit more.
There is much meaning behind this artwork. I just wanted it to kind of show simple life. Everyone gets carried away in their busy lives and I feel like this place looks like somewhere you can just breath and take a second. Sometimes life is better when it's simple.
The hardest part for me was the detail. There isn't much detail in it because it was difficult to find the right spot to put it. It's such a simple drawing you don't want to overwelm it. I also had trouble deciding where the best place to shade was. I overcame this by being cautious of how much I add to this drawing. If I could start over I would defintly not sharpie the birds. In my head it sounded like it would look good but it looks very choppy.
This is realistic art piece. I really love how it's just very simple and timeless.
