Lucas Burken "Great Orchard"
5" x 18" Collage
My idea for this piece of art was to recreate a piece of art that shows something that I like. I put the apple in the middle because its one of my favorite fruit. I then surrounded the open space with pieces of sky, grass and colors that are outdoors because I really like the outdoors and mountains.
My process for this collage was to start by sketching the outline of a apple. I used pencil, glue, scissors and pieces from magazines. Once I had the outline drawn I started filling with pieces of red to form the apple then fill the other open space with the colors of outdoors.
My artwork doesn't mean anything super important just me making something that I like. I want my audience to think about what kinda landscape is outdoors if they go out and go on a trip.
The most difficult part of this drawing for me was figuring out how to cut the papers to fill in the weird spaces. I overcame the struggles by tracing pieces I needed to cut with a pencil then cutting it before gluing it. If I could change something about this collage I wish the apple was more of a defined shape
This style of art is art creation. This is unique to my personal style because I usually don't make stuff like this. I usually stick to no color and do basic pieces of work. I like the fact that you can kinda tell what I was trying to make.
