Kolt Miller "Airplane"
4x6," Acrylic on paper, 2024
The reason why I did this as my baseline is because planes are cool. I have also had some of my best moments on vacations where we take planes to get there. So I decided to run with this idea. I started off by sketching out the outline of the plane and clouds. But then I started on the red of the plane and the next color I did was the gray and painted over the outline of the plane. Then to wrap it up I did the windows and background. I did this because I have been on great vacations with my family that involve a plane ride to get to our destinations. The plane has a little mystery because you don't know where it is going and everybody has different thoughts of where it could be going. The most difficult part is that it is so small and is hard to get details. But the best part is the background. This is realistic art. I really like the color of the background.
Kolt Miller "Little Me"
11x14, Acrylic on canvas, 2024
My idea was to make a painting of me when I was little and to see how I have changed. I wanted to make something from when I was little and had different interests. So far my process has been sketching out the background and then used the picture to trace it on to the canvas and the I painted the color of the cabinets on the whole thing. Then I worked on other parts of the work. This is me as a little kid and I have great memories from this time. There is not anything specific I want them to think about. The most difficult part of this has been making the right colors and then painting the skin. I worked past this by just practicing. If I started over I would have did a my background different then what it is now.
This style is realistic because I am trying to make it as much like the picture as possible. This is just about me and what I was like when I was little. The best part of it was the toy.
Kolt Miller "Bo"
8x10, Acrylic on canvas, 2024
My dog is always there and will always listen to what you have to say. They won't turn you away, they might not respond but they are always there. I was going through my camera roll and I got towards the end and found my dog, and I thought of how I could do it. My dogs are one of the most important components of my life.I began by first painting the background green, because of the grass in the background. Then I began to trace my dog on the canvas. Then I began to get the white body of my dog. The next step was painting the dogs head. I did this by doing the black first then began the beige part. Now I am just touching up a few spots. It shows someone who you can talk to about anything. What do you want your audience to think about. The most difficult part was the small black spots. I overcame this by using a paint marker, to get these spots. Where I first started my background because it was not quite big enough. This style of art is realism. It is of something personal to me. I love how it shows how my dog really is and how he acts.
