My idea was to combine my two hobbies into a poster with things to symbolize them. I got this idea because I thought it would be the best idea for this type of work. My inspiration was purely from my love of being creative and reading.
I started by putting a gradient as the background using the gradient tool. Next I created glasses with o's in the books using the pen tool, text tool, and width tool. Then, I created a few paint brushes by using images on google and tracing it with the pen tool. Also, I did some imagery of the paintbrush painting the and symbol by changing the color of the symbol. Plus, I added some books and a paint palette using the same tools I used for the paintbrushes Finally, I was able to get help at the last second to add a clipping mask to the word "Art" and I chose "Starry Night" because I felt like it would be the best one for the piece.
This piece is just meant to show my interests in an art form. I want the audience to think about how they can make their hobbies into the subject of an art piece. I don't think there is any hidden symbolism besides the images I put in to express my interests.
The most difficult part was creating the vector images in my piece. I overcame this by favoring the undo keys to try again when I made a mistake. I would have tried different ways to add and create a clipping mask to all the words if I had to start again. I would also change how I clipped the mask to have the front building of the painting coming out of the "A" in "Art".
This piece would be non-objective since there is no perfect message in it. This is close to my personal style because I like to include my hobbies into my art. The thing I like about this piece is how well the vector images turned out.

The idea I had was to create a koala out of many different colorful shapes. I got the idea from thinking what would be the best animal for this task. It evolved to thinking of colors that would complement each other and the pieces needed. I had gotten inspiration from the fact I enjoy going to zoos.
I started by finding the image I wanted and moving it over to Illustrator. Next, I brought edit the size of the artboard to fit the animal in it perfectly. Then, I started to add the shapes with the polygon tool and editing them with the direct select tool and add anchor tool. Also, changing the colors of the shapes as I added them with the color changer. When I added the eyes I used the polygon tool to create the shape and the gradient tool to create the brown to orange gradient you can see. Finally, I removed the reference picture and added a light blue background to the final piece.
This piece it meant to show how creative you can get with straight edged shapes on a mainly round animal. I want the audience to think about how much time this took and the complexity of the piece. Looking at this piece I don't see any hidden or visible symbolism in it.
The hardest part of this piece was creating the shapes for the ear floofs. I overcame this by simply taking my time and being very careful. The one thing I would change is the swirl that I created in the body if I had to start over.
This piece would be surreal as it isn't something you would see out and about in your day to day life. This is unique to my personal style because I enjoy to experiment with different forms of art. I love everything about this piece from the eyes to the colors I used in the shapes.

I added the azalea flowers to the bottom and top on both sides as they are this year's class flower. Also, I added the saber to the top of the front as it is our school's logo, and the grad caps are there to show the meaning of this piece. I did three different fonts to show contrast and bring attention to the words I want them to draw themselves too. Also, I put little dividers between certain words and phrases. Finally, I added a mad by to the bottom so that the people who get this know who made it.
The titles I put on to this just shows what the page you are looking at. The quote and important people are meant to be there but I added my own flare when it came to the "Congratulations 2024 Sabers" at the bottom of the back page. The address and time was also mandatory.
When it came to reviews I had no fixes to be made besides the font which I listened to as I could see how certain fonts need to be smaller. Lastly, the one thing I liked about this assignment was expirementing with placement of images and text.

I started by adding the background, then I added the mountain that has the HER formed with it. Lastly, I added the Empower on top and the dots but this was only for the first copy. On the new one (one shown) I shortened the HER mountain in the middle then extended the mountain to fit empower in it. Then I added the leadership summit to the bottom and add more dots.
My favorite part is the colors and the horizon made with the mountain. Though I don't like how wide the H is but I don't know how I would change it.

I started by opening the Ai file for the saber without the shield. Then I add the purple circle border with the characteristics in order to have what the clients asked for. The last thing I did was add the yellow circles with the line art showing the characteristics. This eventually will go onto the layout another classmate made and after a few more tweaks it will be apart of the full Portrait poster.
My favorite part is the line art details as I traced them with the pen tool. Though I don't like how the words aren't equal in size or spacing but I did the best I could.

My idea was to create a book that has a castle popping up from the book with some sort of glow is the background. I got this idea from my love of books and reading. It evolved into an even better piece through using textures and effects to get the story book feel with the castle. I was also inspired by every book I have read that has some type of extravagant castle in the story.
I started by using the pen tool to create the book and also used the sketch filter to achieve the more book like appearance with the cover and lines to dictate "pages". Then worked on the castle starting from the middle outward using the pen tool for the buildings and roofs. I then colored and textured the buildings along with adding the stain glass window to the main building using the ellipse tool. Next, I went through adding both dark and lit windows to the castle to make it seem alive. I did this with the pen tool, gradient color tool, and opacity effect. Before I moved to the next step I did make sure they were spaced out perfectly. The next step I did was add shadows to add more depth to the castle and book. The final thing I did was add a gradient to the background to have a glow behind the castle.
The piece's meaning is that a book can come to life if you truly enjoy it. I also want the audience to think about the experience that you can have while reading. The symbolism is that when reading you can be drawn into the world as the story unfolds in front of you.
The hardest part was the shadows as I didn't want them to harsh. I overcame this though by simply taking my time and experimenting with different intensities. I would change a single thing about this piece as it is one of the best pieces I have created.
This piece is surreal as a real castle would never truly sprout out of a book. It is simpler to my own style as I enjoy finding a way to put little parts of things I love into my drawing. I love the stain glass window I put in as I wanted to add color and try something new in this piece.

My idea for this design was to memorialize Jellie, who was Goodtimeswithscar's cat who died in January of this year. I started with wanting to put Jellie in the sky above a field with trees with a rainbow to and a little more color. This piece evolved to the setting being a cloudy mountain range because it was a bit more easy to work with. I was mainly inspired by Jellie and her death because she was one of my favorite YouTuber pets.
I started by bringing in images that I was going to combine together. Then I combine the picture of Jellie with the sky of the mountain picture using the double exposure technique. This is basically a type of layer masking that is cleaner. I then worked on using filters, like contrast and color balance, until it brought the emotion of sadness through the dull black and white with very little color. The next thing I did was bring in the rainbow and used some filters and the blend tool so that it would look a part of the piece. Also the pop of color is a representative of the light that comes out of death because you know they are no longer in pain. Lastly, I added the clouds to give it a little more depth and emotion and I did this only using the layer mask tool and a few filters.
This artwork means that through the death of Jellie there is some light because she is no longer in pain and that there were some great moments with her. I want the audience to think about the great cat that was lost and how she brought joy not only to Scar but the community that he had watching him. The symbolic imagery would be the rainbow because it works as a piece of happiness in a sad memorial design and as a way to symbolize Jellie going over the rainbow into the light.
The hardest part of this piece to create the sad emotions through colors and adjustments. So when I got stuck I would take a break or make a copy and experiment knowing that there was alway one I could go back to. I would most likely change the rainbow to make it stand out a little more if I was to start again.
The style would be a mix of symbolic and surreal as it is symbolise a death of a great pet. As well, the idea of a cat's image being in the sky is something that would never happen. It's close to my personal style because I love to represent Youtubers and their pets in either small or big ways. I love the way Jellie looks majestic in the sky among the clouds.

My idea was to honor the hosts of the theorist channels, game, film, food, and style, in one piece using the main logo. I got the idea purely from my enjoyment of the channels. The idea evolved from just having the main logo to the main logo with the purple gradient and "Team Theorist" on the top. I was inspired by the logo design and the hosts.
I started by bringing in the six images I was going to use. Then I used layer mask in order to fit the people into their designated quadrant (or trophy). The next thing I did was color the quadrants and trophy with the chosen color of the channel or a simple fiting color using the paintbrush tool. I then used the text tool to write the names of the hosts and the group name at the top and in the quadrants. Finally, I added the purple gradient to allow the main design to contrast with it.
The artwork means to honor the host that has retired and the ones that followed in his footsteps. I want the audience to think about how important these people are to me and the other viewers. This is because they give us new views on the world and teach us things we would have never or never will learn in school. The symbolic imagery is how they are unified under one name and logo but they have their own personalities and things the enjoy.
The hardest part was getting the layer mask just right that you couldn't see the backgrounds from the images. I overcame this by simply taking my time and changing the brush size. I wouldn't change anything about this piece.
The style is objective because it is meant to honor the 5 hosts of the theory channels. This is unique to my style because I like to symbolise the theorist channels in my art work. I love everything about this piece espically how I fit the people into the logo.

My idea for this piece was to create a wallpaper about something that is important to me. It evolved from something that was supposed to look like graffiti like the project outline to a beautiful pastel wallpaper dedicated to being a Christian. I was inspired by the fact I was baptized not that long ago.
I started by creating a center gradient for the background using the gradient tool. Then I created the cross using the rectangle tool twice and I did the outline by using the line tool. Next thing I did was use the line, rectangle, and ellipsoidal tool to create a heart that looks like a vine. I then created the flowers using both pre-made shapes and making some using the pen tool and bucket tool. I also created the words using the text tool. Finally, I added shadows and glow to the piece using the layer style tool.
This artwork means to represent how you can design something around religion that is important to you. I want the audience to think about how they could embrace Christianity in their life. The symbolism is the words by the cross as they are two important dates in my life.
The hardest part was creating the heart vine as creating the tendrils was hard to get right. I overcame this by simply taking my time and asking for myself. I wouldn't change a single thing if I was to start over.
This style is symbolic because it shows how important Christianity is to me. This is personal to my style because I like to add flowers into my art when I can. I like how nicely the vine I made flows.

My idea was to create a self portrait of myself with my favorite things and hobbies incorporated into the art. The idea started as a self portrait with me holding books and a blue gradient as a background. It evolved into a simplistic graphic of me and the things I am interested in as little segments in the background. I was inspired the mosaic animal I made early this year and my hobbies.
I started by bringing a picture of into Illustrator and traced the picture in individual sections so it looks more like a person. I then added the six background segments that included the hobbies I like and I did this with the pen tool, two of the segments have elements that I traced. For example, I had to trace the red Special Olympics logo and do some copy and pasting to get how it looks now. The last thing I did was simply go over the piece to see if I could add anything but thankfully I didn't need to.
The meaning of the piece is to express yourself and if you want to do something just go for it. That is actually how I got into helping with Special Olympics at school. I want the audience to think about what makes them unique and how they could express themselves through those things. The symbolism is everywhere from the books on the shelves to the music note it's purely symbolizing what makes me unique.
The hardest part was the shadow of the wave because it took time to shape it to the curve that was already in the wave. I overcame this though by simply trying multiple times until it was the way I wanted it to be. I wouldn't change anything to the piece if I had to start over.
The style would be expressionism because I am expressing myself through the colors and images in the piece. It is truly unique to my personal style because I like putting everything I love into a drawing and making them fit in together. Finally, in this piece I love how put together the Special Olympics logo came out.
