First Semester of Freshman Year, 2023
My idea was to show different symbols from norse and greek mythology. I got the idea from my love of mythology. Also, it evolved from just the runes and symbols to the runes with their meanings and the other symbols. While I didn't get inspired by my life or art, I got my inspiration from my interest of symbols and runes from mythology as well as their meanings.
I started with block letters, then I added the lightning bolt and the bubbles. Though, I did have to take a minute to think before I added the norse runes with their meanings, greek symbols, and the smaller details. The main tool I used was a pencil and my technique was sketching and drawing lightly until it is right.
The meaning of this piece is to embrace what you have learned and try to add it into something you enjoy even if it is multiple things. I wanted the audience to think or learn about the different uses and meaning of the runes with a couple of the greek symbols. The symbolic imagery are the runes with the meanings and the greek symbols because they come from the books I have read that are based on mythology.
The most difficult part was starting but I overcame this by taking a minute and starting or continuing as soon as I have a new idea. I would have redone the bubble letters to make them match better with the theme.
The style of my piece would probably be abstract. It is unique to my style because it is a small combination of things from books I have read. I love how I incorporated the runes and their meanings.
My name is Izzy Heitz.
Exciting, sleek, bold all awesome words to describing the great logo I have created that has the ability to combine two different companies logo, Shaw Electric and Fidlar Tech, into one super cool logo. The lighting bolt and red is from the electrifying Shaw Electric. Also, the free flowing lines, stars, and sleek black and white coloring comes from the friendly, and cool Fidlar Technology. This new logo will make you think of the best company for electrical issues and the amazing company known for helping counties across the US with filing and other government duties.
My idea was for each petal and the stem to have words that describe the flower. I got my idea from the simplicity and prettiness of the lotus flower.
I started by picking out a picture of a flower that I liked then I uploaded to Illustrator. After that I started tracing the petals and stem so that it would it would be easier to add the words while doing that I was thinking words to put in the piece. Finally, I combined the words with the shapes and and color to create clean shapes for the flower.
This artwork doesn't have a meaning I just thought it was pretty. I want the audience to think about how the words in the piece describes the flower. The symbolic imagery are the words that I believe describe the flower
The hardest part was making the shapes and enveloping the words with the shape. In order to overcome those challenges I did a lot of undoing and deleting in order to fixes those obstacles. The one thing I would do next time is add a vase to make it look better.
The style of this would be pop because it is dealing with more modern techniques. This is most like my style because I enjoy using bright colors when I decide to color a piece I finish drawing. I love how clean the shapes of the petals turned out.
My idea for this piece was to create a collage of pictures from when I went to the Columbus and Cincinnati Zoos over spring break. My idea stemmed from the fact the pictures I had were clear enough and fit well together, then it was just a matter of creating a final work that truly worked together. The inspiration behind this piece is from the pictures I had taken over spring break from two of the three zoos I went to.
I first had to retrieve the five pictures from my phone which took a while, then I transferred the images from my email to photoshop. Then, I added a background for my collage, then I worked on hiding the backgrounds of the pictures which took about two class periods to do. Next, I added a water image to give the piece a bit of texture. Finally, I added filters to the photos in order to get them to work together and I added a little bit of color to the two of the photo’s eyes to make them pop. I used photoshop and my media was photos and photoshop.
The meaning of this piece is to get people to go to either the Columbus or Cincinnati zoo. I want the audience to think about visiting one of the two zoos on a trip. To be honest, this piece has no symbolic imagery attached to it.
The most difficult part of this piece was just trying to get the images onto my computer and into photoshop. I overcame my struggles by either waiting for another class period or taking a break before coming back to the project. I would change the eyes a bit earlier on than either not doing them or waiting for the last minute.
The style of this project is objective because I am trying to get the audience to go to one of the two zoos in this image. This is unique to my style because I like to use things I love or enjoy as a part of my drawings. I love the filter I put on the animals and the water image I used as texture.
Inspired by Larry Fleet's song "Things I Take for Granted"
My idea for this project was to create a portrait with a book visualizing symbols from different series. I got the idea because I love reading and incorporating symbols from those books into a piece. My inspiration is from different symbols from series I have read.
I started by putting a gradient as a background before going in and tracing a book and coloring it in. Next, I drew little bits of trails in different colors to show a visualization of the symbols. Then, I did a bit of tracing, layer masking, and background removal to the images to add an effect. Finally, I added text to seal the piece together.
This artwork is to represent how I feel when I read. Also, the imagery is that the scenes are playing out in front of me and I can see it.
The most difficult part of this image was removing the background of the capitol symbol. In order to overcome this all I did was try a different way of hiding the background. In all, I wouldn't change a thing if I had to start over.
The style of this piece is surreal. This fits to my style because I enjoy incorporating things from books into my drawings. Finally, the thing I love most of this piece is the misty trails coming out of the book.
My idea was to redesign a book from one of my favorite series to give it a simple design. I got this idea from both the original cover as well as the plot in the book. Lastly, my inspiration was from the series itself.
My first step was to find all of the images and textures I was going to use. Then I worked on layer masking and filtering the images to make them go together nicely. My final step was adding text and add effects to it as well as making the text fit into the cover. The main tool I used in this was Photoshop and the layer mask tool.
This cover is meant to give the person a small glimpse into the story ahead. I want the audience to think about reading this book. The symbolism is the key as it ties back all the way to the first book in this series.
The hardest part for me was getting all the images and text to look like they belong together. I overcame this by simply experimenting with the different highlights and shadows. I would not change a thing if I was to start over.
The style of this piece would be digital art. This project was most likely the least like my personal style mostly because I haven't done this before. Finally, I love how the ribbons flow through the title text.
My idea was to create a poster for the new Hunger Games movie. I got this idea from looking at other posters for this movie. Finally, my inspiration was from the movie itself.
My first step was to gather the picture I was going to use. Then, I had to create layer masks to hide the backgrounds. Next I add the shadows to the images to make them fit together. Finally, I created the background and create the text to fit the poster. As well, I used Photoshop and the layer masking tool.
This poster was to give the person a look into the main characters of the story. Also, I want the audience to want to see the movie. The symbolism is in the rose and the guitar.
The hardest part was making the characters and objects look like they are from the same image. I overcame this by simply trying my best. I also would not change a thing if I was to start over.
The style of this piece is digital art. This project isn't really like my style as I haven't done this type of work before. Finally, I love how the two characters and their objects came out.
