“Save the Turtle”
8’ x 10’
Pencil, Paper, Laptop
Something that inspired me to make this was saving the endangered animals that are eating plastic. The first thing I did was to make a plan for what I was going to do. I then drew my idea on a blank white paper. Next, I scanned my sketch into the scanner. I took that and placed it on the desktop of my computer. After that, I watched videos on how to use different tools and started to explore and use different brushes on my work. Then, I just had to make 30 different layers of all different things on my piece. When I faced some challanges I just took a deep breath and relaxed than either asked for help or see what I could do to fix what I have done. Some risks I took were what type of brush to use for my sunset or if I should use a blur or whatnot. I also decided if I wanted to make a crab, then lastly, I thought it would look nice to add texture to my sand. The thing I’d say I like the most is how my Sunset, Turtle, and Shading turned out. I also like how when I look at my art you can tell I used line, variety of shapes, colors, textures, contrasting, and pattern. Although, if I could start over I would probably make my artwork have a different animals other than a turtle or have more sea animals and maybe have plastic floating around or even just go more into my work and show more there.

Clay, Tools, Glazing paint, rolling pin, kilim
My inspiration for this project was doing something about an animal that lives in nature or woody areas. First, I started out with a slab of clay then I formed a bowl and pinched. With the extra pieces I had, I made the extra add ons. Secondly, I used score and slip to attach the pieces I made onto the bowl. Then, I put one layer of glaze on my bowl. Eventually, I had put on 3 different layers of glaze on my bowl. Also, I made a lid for my bowl. Next, I had put my work into the kilim to fire. Then, I checked my art and placed a picture onto my Art 8 page. A challenge I faced during this was when I tried to paint the extra pieces the paint would either be perfectly on or droopy. So that was a pain. But I rolled along with it and I just tried my hardest to make it look better until I liked how it looked. I took the risk of doing add ons because they weren’t going very well and sticking at the beginning. I also learned that you have to glaze fast. I liked the most how well the eyes stayed on and the blue glaze I used looks very pretty. But if I could start over I would get rid of the pink color I used and I would have it regular instead of a bowl with a lid I would want to get rid of the lid.

Metal, Metal tools, Paper, Acrylic paint, Watercolor
The inspiration I had for this project was mother nature and how to express that. The first thing I did was I sketched out my flower design. Then, picked out what color and size to make the metal. I then traced my sketch onto my metal piece. After that, I got to put black acrylic paint over my metal. Next, I chose my background and what colors I should chose. Lastly, I let it dry and glued my metal to my background paper. Eventually I put the picture onto my Art page. A challenge I faced was wiping off the black paint. I would either wipe off too much or I wouldn't wipe off the right way. That was very stressful. Although I did suck it up and got help. I took a risk on adding on more black paint because then there is an extra coat over the already dried paint and it could have ruined it but it didn't. If I could start over I would change my background into doing like a night sky and do a different or unique background instead of just trying a sunset. But overall I did like how my artwork turned out.
