Grace Hendrickson "Mushrooms"
9x12, Graphite on Paper, 2023
My idea was to find some type of plant to draw so i looked up plant sketches and one of them was a mushroom.
I started with the outline of the mushroom head and stem of the biggest mushroom and made circles on it to not color in so it looks like little bumps.
It symbolizes simple just simple nature and how pretty the little things can be.
It was difficult getting the layering the stem and the bottom of the biggest mushroom and also the shading of the mushrooms.
I would classify it as realistic
Grace Hendrickson "The Beauty and Darkness in Death"
9x12, Graphite on Paper, 2023
My idea was to find some type of skull drawing with nature in corperated and i found a sketch of this to go off of.
I started by sketching out and then adding the line where the ground and the skull meet. Then i added in the plants on top and the roots on bottom
I wanted it to show the different sides of death and how it looks from out perspective but what also the darkness part kept deep within.
It was difficult getting the shape of the skull right and shadding everything the best I could.
I would classify it as realistic
Grace Hendrickson "Witch Toad? Which Toad?"
9x12, Ink on Paper, 2023
My idea was to make a Toad with a witch hat on which didn't take as long as a though it would so i added flooring, a cauldron and a background.
I started with the outline of the toad in pencil then erased it and drew in in pen. then i added the cauldron, and flooring and did the same process.
It doesn't symbolize anything it's just a funny little drawing.
It was difficult because i couldn't mess up because you can't erase ink.
Grace Hendrickson "I found the way out but i can't reach it"
9x12, Ink on Paper, 2023
My idea was to make organs chained up and make it have some emotional value to it. So in the end i decided to add scissors hung by string and the organs hung by chains.
I started by drawing each organ and the scissors and then added the chain around it. and of course printed the design.
It shows that you can see the way out and that it's easy but you can't get out.
it was difficult pushing the small details into the foam so it showed up on the paper when i inked it.
I would classify it as a ink print design.

My idea was to a simple landscape mountain scene. It's supposed to be a very peaceful and nice looking sketch
I started by going off of my picture reference. I started with a rough outline of the mountains, water, and tree line. Then added in the rocks, buildings, and shadings.
It shows a nice peaceful feeling of finding a nice simple landscape.
It was difficult to get the shading right.
I would classify it as realistic
