I got the idea to try eyes because I have always been a very visual person and when I meet someone I remember them from their eyes and the color mixtures in their eyes. You ask me what color someone's eyes are, I can give you an exact estimate. So I took a picture of my eyes months before I had painting as a class. I got the picture up and had to study the colors and shades in my eyes. Eyebrows I didn’t care about as much because I knew I could go back and tweak those later as well as adding eyelashes and the pink layer of tissue connecting the eye. The main part of the eye started as faint lines leading to the pupil and golden rings around the eye, much like a tree every person has colored rings in their eyes I happen to have golden with a slight touch of grey rings. I also have another cool fact about my eyes. I have central Heterochromia which is a burst of any color in the center of both or one eye. This was one of my favorite sketches to create!
This is technically a painting that I created over the summer (2020). It is a little farm home down a slight hill with tall grass because I love tall grass in artwork, with a tornado as the main object of the scenery. The idea randomly came to mind, plus I was in the mood to paint. So I started with Alpine green, black, and gray as the sky. With the gray clouds quickly filling up the sky, as the light is fading away the tornado grows stronger. The part that was difficult was adding dirt and debris at the base of the twister without getting too crazy. I really love paintings about nature and its beauty whether it be peaceful beauty or destructive.
Before
This is my first sculpture. She is supposed to be a minie Funko Pop witch is a brand of vinyl dolls. I wanted to create a miniature version of my favorite character from my favorite movie I Kill Giants. If you want to watch the movie I highly recommend it! It seems a little weird as you get to know the main character Barbara Thorson but you really get to know the struggles this young teenager goes through on a daily basis. So I started making her head which was the shape of a brick, I also made the main part of her body. I did each part in layers so after the head and body were baked I added eyes and nose, and on the body I added a little hood for her red sweatshirt underneath her denim trench coat which I added scraps on her back for to make it look 3D. Then I created her heart hand bag or her Coveleskie bag which holds her warhammer. I gave her glasses, and created her warhammer as well as gave her the bunny ears that she wears in the film as a “tribute to her spirit guide”. The final touches where then to paint on the details. I really love how she turned out and can’t wait to hopefully pass her down to my family for generations to come.
