Forest Neuberg “Blue and Sunny”
5 x 4.5 x 1”, Stoneware and glaze, 2026
My idea for the glaze was a sun and a sky because of the pattern in the middle. To portray this, I used a blue that looks like the sky and a bright yellow. I internally made the blue stronger because it's most of the sky. I like the orange because it looks like a sunrise. While making it, I knew I wanted a wavy shape because it looks better that way. I used a rib tool, a sponge, and a pattern mat. I also used a ring to have the bowl sit on before I curve the sides. My artwork symbolizes the warmth of the sun and atmosphere. Even though the sun can burn you, it's the only reason we are living. The middle part is the sun, while the little diamonds represent sun rays. While the blue is the sky. The most difficult part of my artwork was the yellow glaze. The yellow glaze wasn’t showing much when I was glazing, so I was scared that the blue was going to cover the entirety of the yellow glaze. I like this artwork because it's a pretty vibrant artwork with a nice theme.
Forest Neuberg “Emptiness and Greed”
5 x 5 x 1.5”, Stoneware and glaze, 2026
My idea for the glaze was black and gold to make it look royal. My idea changed when it was done to space a little bit. Finally it changed to greed afterwards. I used the needle tool, a sponge, and a rib tool. I used the needle tool with the ring to cut off some of the top. I also used the needle tool to carve my name on the bottom. The artwork means greed. Gold is a common image of greed. While black is used to show the evil and darkness of greed. My artwork is telling the viewer that greed is a negative and you should not work towards only money. A struggle of this artwork was that I didn’t understand how to do some of the steps. I like this artwork because it shows a different part of most artworks. I also like it because the gold and black mix really well. Another reason I like this project is the name is good.
Forest Neuberg “The Greeks Favorite Pitcher”
4 x 3 x 11.5”, Stoneware and glaze, 2026
My idea was a Greek ceramic pitcher. I got the idea after looking at a copper glaze. My artwork reminds me of the Hercules movie by Disney. I used a cutout to make the shape of my pitcher. I used a needle tool, a sponge, and a rib tool. I used the rib tool and sponge to smooth out the clay. I used the needle to cut off pieces from the cutout. A technique I used was pouring the glaze in and out of the pitcher to glaze the inside. The theme of my artwork is Greek ceramics. Something I want the viewers to think about is how much Greek arts shape our society. The most difficult part was glazing the entire thing. It took a long time to glaze it because it is so tall. I like this artwork because it has a cool pattern with cool colors that symbolizes Greek arts.
Forest Neuberg “Paintpool”
2 x 2 x 0.5”, Air dry clay and acrylic paint, 2026
My first few ideas for this project were eggs, a crocodile, and deadpool. I didn’t do eggs because many people have already done it. The reason I didn’t do the crocodile is because it doesn't have any meaning to me. So I ended up with the deadpool logo. I got the inspiration for the deadpool logo from a game I was playing. Deadpool was the latest hero in Marvel Rivals and I enjoyed playing him. I first started with the base and shaped up the sides. Once done with that I made the final mold and then painted it. My artwork is telling the viewer to work on stuff your are inspired by. If I didn’t choose this I would have worked on something I had no connection or lasting interest in and I would have not liked my artwork as much as I had. Something difficult for me with this project was painting it. The black and red paint kept on getting into places where they don’t belong. If you look up close you could see the black in the red and red in the black. I tried to cover it up but they were too strong so I just moved on. Something I like about this project is how well the eyes turned out. I did think the eyes would be too good but I really like them in the end.
Forest Neuberg “Haze of Night ”
8 x 8 x 2, Stoneware and glaze, 2026
I had to a design or pattern for the so I chose stripes. I decided to used sapphire blue for the stripes because the contrast with the red will look cool. I used small balls of clay and pushed them into the mold of the bowl. I used sponge, clay, a rib tool, and a needle tool to add or cut. When I look at my artwork the blue reminds me of “The Starry Night” by Van Gogh. I want my artwork to portray a foggy night. Some struggles I had was that I didn’t know where the blue was after I glazed, so I glazed the wrong spot. I overcame this by covering most of the original color to make the stripes stand out more. I like the blue and how the stripes turned out.
My idea was plants vs zombies, specifically sunflower and peashooter. But I changed my idea to sunflower and potato mine because the peashooter would have too many parts. I was inspired by plants vs zombies, a game I have played a few times and I liked it. I used colored paper, scissors, glue, and some colored pencils. I used colored paper that I glued down for the background. My artwork showed my love for the game plants vs zombies. The most difficult part was making sure the camera doesn’t auto flip because it would auto flip sometimes and I would have to edit the photos. When this would happen it would mess up in Capcut if I didn’t fix it right after the photo was taken. I had to restart the photo part but I was more careful this time so in the end the photos didn’t mess up. I didn’t think it would look good so I liked how it turned out because it looked better than I expected.
Forest Neuberg “Cold Violet and Gross Orange”
Stoneware and glaze, 2026
The idea was cold colors for the first one and I just chose random colors for the second one. The first one makes me think of “Starry Night”. The second one makes me think of the green ghost from Ghostbusters. I started with getting a handful of clay to put on the wheels. Once on I center the clay. After centered I push down and up the bowl then out. When it looks good I put water on both sides and cut the bowl off. As I got the bowl done, I centered it again then cut parts of it off. A theme of my artwork is that unexpected outcomes help you learn. I didn’t expect the second one to come out looking like that but it still looks alright. The most difficult part of the wheel was remembering the steps and not overdoing it. After a bit of practice I got used to it though. Something I would do is listen more to the steps of what to do. I like the blue and purple mixed into one. I also like how the other one is made out of a mess up.
