I created this plant pot using the coil technique and pressing the texture into it using one of the tools designed for clay. Then I made four different holes in the bottom of it so my aloe vera plant can thrive. I used the iron yellow glaze in the indented parts and the cosmic tea dust glaze in the background. Unfortunately the darker color overpowered the lighter parts but some lighter parts can be seen around a couple of the indents. There was supposed to be a bit of symbolism with the colors, my idea was to make it look like a reverse sunflower. So it would be a plant in plant, which I thought would be kinda cool. But other than that I just went with what I was supposed to do. I struggled a bit with making it straight all the way up, I did my best but I do notice some parts where it could be better.
I took months to create this piece of art. It is of my dog Lilly (her nickname is Lillypup), which I have been wanting to do for years now. I finally was confident enough in my artistic talent to try it out. It started out with me finding a picture that I liked of her, and that I believed I could draw. I started out figuring out where the line where the floor and the counter is, then I did an outline of the counter. After this I did an outline of the floor, which took some changes before I got it how I liked it. After this I started adding detail to the counters. I believe I did okay, but the floor is where I really shined, mostly because I could easily see a lot of details that i wanted to add. when I was finished the floor I struggled with getting started on Lilly, this was because I can't draw animals very well and her fur looked like an especially hard task. Thankfully Mrs. Garrity was able to help, she took my picture through an app to make the details less scary and did a thing where she squared all of the parts. She then took the peice of paper I wanted to use and put the squares onto it so I could follow it and go through it slowly. This really helped and I worked on this for a couple of months. I mostly struggled with getting everything where I wanted it, for example her snout and eyes I was struggling a lot with. But after all the shading and details I added I finally was done and ready to cut Lilly out. This took me a couple of classes. But I was able to put her on with a glue stick and put modge podge all over it to keep it all safe and together. Once I get home this will definetly be going into a frame, especially since its already starting to curl at the edges.
