9x12, Acrylic on Canvas, 2021
What I wanted from this painting was I wanted something that I could give to my sister who is in the painting. I got the idea for this painting when my mom sent me the picture on the first day of school and I wanted to show how much my sister and I have grown since 1st and 2nd grade. This picture is of me and my sister on the first day of school 8 years ago. I painted the background a pale pink. I took the original picture and traced it onto the canvas using transfer paper. I then outlined the lines that transferred from the transfer paper and started painting. I used transfer paper. This artwork symbolizes my and my sister’s growth in 8 years. I want to audience to think about their families. The most difficult thing for me with this painting was getting the proportions right. I had to keep looking at the original picture. I wouldn’t change anything about this painting. The style of art for this painting is realistic. I love that this painting means so much to me.
