9x12, Acrylic on Canvas, 2021
My idea for this painting was to show my favorite animal. I don’t really know how I got the idea t paint this. I just felt like painting dinosaurs. The inspiration for this painting came from a joke between my best friend and I in 8th grade. I started out with a sketch of 3 different-sized dinosaurs. Then I painted the background dark purple to represent the moon rising. Then I painted the dinosaurs and they weren’t the right size so Mrs. Dunlavey came up with the idea of shaping the dinosaurs by painting trees in the background. I used a bigger brush to paint the background and a smaller brush to paint everything else. I didn’t use any specific techniques. This painting doesn’t really have a meaning. I want the audience to think about dinosaurs and how they could have possibly gone extinct. The most difficult thing about this painting was getting the dinosaurs to the perfect size. Mrs. Dunlavey and I came up with the idea of shaping the dinosaurs by painting trees in the background I would change the background color. The style of art for this painting is non-objective. This is unique to my personal style because it shows something that I’m interested in. The thing I like the most about this painting is the trees.
