12x12, acrylic paint, 2023
I got the idea for this painting by looking through my photos and deciding I wanted to do a landscape painting. In my camera roll I had a picture of a horizon painting from Pinterest so I decided to do my painting similar to it. I first painted my background using one of my largest brushes. When the background dried I used a pencil to draw my sun and then mixed orange and red to make the color. For my lines I free-handed them without drawing them in. To create each color I had to be creative and mix up colors. I made this because I wanted to make a pretty painting that I would be able to hang up in my room. When an audience looks at this I want them to notice the pop of color and think of a time when they have seen a sunset over the horizon. The most difficult part was trying to mix colors to get the colors I wanted. It was also hard for me to make the lines because I wanted to try to make them small and big but they were getting messy. I went slower to make them smoother and then at the end I went back over with my background color to clean it up. The style of art for this painting is abstract. It is unique because I made it using a bunch of colorful lines but I love the colors of it and looking at the different sizes and squiggles of lines.Â
