Willow lake
8”x10”
Paper, Pencil, Computer, Photoshop
My inspiration for this artwork was peacefulness and Earth. But, the idea was something I created in my head. The process for creating my work was first sketch my idea on plain white drawing paper. Next, I scanned it onto my laptop and put it into photoshop. After I put it in photoshop I started adding colors, textures, and different brushes. While creating this art I had to demonstrate problem-solving with finding a texture that made the background look like a soft fabric. A new thing I learned was everything in photoshop. Before doing this project I had never used photoshop. A creative risk I took was adding the gray and purple dots in the background, but I think they add to the look of the art. My favorite part of my work is the way the polaroid looks. The green grass and the blue-purple lake look great next to each other. If I were to start over on my project I would make the outline of the polaroid thinner.
“Braided Mug”
3 x 5 x 41/4
Clay, Glaze
The inspiration for my art piece was all from my imagination. To create this work first I cut the clay pieces and scored and slipped the body of it together. Next, I started making strips of clay and braided 4 sections of that. I scored and slipped the braids to the body of my piece. Then it was fired, glazed with 3 coats of each color, and then fired again. While making mug I had to do a lot of tedious work with braiding the strips without breaking them and glazing in all the nooks and crannies of the braids. I took a risk with the blue color, I wasn’t sure what color I wanted and so I chose the sea blue and I really like how it turned out. My favorite part of my work is the shape. I love how the braids look around it. If I could start over I would do a little bit better of a job glazing the braided pieces.
“Which Key?”
9x12
Paper, Acrylic Paint, Metal
My artwork was inspired by mystery. The rustic door and the key options make it mysterious. This idea was from my imagination. To create this work first I used metal tools to indent and push the details into the metal. Next, I glazed it with acrylic paint and cleaned it off. Finally, I painted my background. A challenge I faced was when I was actually tooling and I couldn’t get some of the indents I wanted. A creative risk I took was painting the brick wall in the background. I wasn’t sure how well it would fit with the theme. My favorite part of my finished project is the different keys and how they look. If I could go back and change something I would do a better job creating details on the door.
