“Gold Panther”

Plaster, Paint,
For the inspiration for my mask was a mixture of African Tribes mask, because of the way they worshiped the powerful animals around them, making a mask about the animals. I also really liked some of the patterns from the Mexican mask. Another thing is, a lot of people were saying it looked like the man from the black panthers mask. My mask making process was, first I had had help figuring out how to have no cat looking mouth on my mask, so I have to straighten the plater that goes on the mouth. Then I painted it all black, waited for that to dry and then added all the gold lines pattern, last I added the white round eyes. One challenge that I faced during this was not knowing what kind of paint did what, the gold paint that I used came out runny and faded in the middle of the paint, so I justed over and over again to fill in the faded part. Another challenge I faced was the edges looking rough, and spikey. To overcome this I painted the edges gold, making it go with the pattern. One of the risked I took was making a pattern, the reason this was a risk was because I am not good with line patterns, but I tuned out pretty good. Another risk I took was making the eyes round, and not having teeth, making it look like a cartoon kinda. I would say my favorite part of the finished product is the ears, I really like the ears cause I feel like that's the most somewhat good looking part. If I could change anything about this it would be the eyes, trying to make them more realistic, also I would make a mouth, with big teeth, also I feel like it needs more pattern and less thick lines.

“Texas Hotel”

Paper, Graphite
My source of inspiration was a memory, when I go to Texas we never stay at hotels, because we know so many people that live there, plus family that we dot need to stay at a hotel. But one time we went to Texas, not to visit but because of court and the hotel we stayed at have an outdoor pool, arcade and so many fun things, so I made some memories with my bothers. Fist it was making the walls and roof, then the box in the middle is what made that illusion of a room. Then I added all the furniture and windows and the rug. I made a few mistakes with the shading because I didn't really get it but I made it work by looking at the light source. Also, the scale was not for me, but I decided to use it as my floor. I took a risk when I drew the star in the Texas flag, I was and am not good at drawing stars, but I tried and it came out good, I also never shaded before so that was a risk. I like that I was able to put the flag inside my art with no problems. I really like how the helmet came out, it looks really good to me, and I'm not good at drawing so that was a surprise. I would put a couch or chair because it looks really boring without anything on the side.
Squares

My inspiration for Squares is the videos that we watched, I really like the faces where there were the squares covering the face but still making it, by dividing the different parts and putting that on the squares, I liked that and did it. The first thing I did was cut the face out to look like skinny, then at the top, wider. Then I started to paint the light colors, then the dark, but my painting messed up a little bit. One problem I dealt with was the paint, the brush kept hitting places I didn't want to, so I painted with darker colors over it, it worked a little bit. I had never made a face before so I didn't know how to start, or where to start, but from my drawing, I made in my sketchbook I just made that. I liked that in some parts I didn't mean to put only 2 coats and I did accidentally, but it all turned out good. One thing I would change is using a smaller brush when painting, because of that's what took longer, cause I had to continue on fixing it.
