Band Member Activation Process
1. Audition
After the initial contact has been made the audition appointment becomes the next step (an individual may bypass the audition only if the leadership of the WAM have previously recognized this person’s interest and ability and are familiar with it, and have deemed this individual’s audition an unnecessary step of the procedure). This stage of the process should not take longer than 15 minutes; the auditionee will play a piece of his/her choice, and then play the assigned songs.
2. Two Week Practice Attendance
The individual will then be invited to attend a band practice. During at least one or two of the songs, that individual will be invited to sing/play along with the band (by this time in the process, the individual will have had access to the WAM Information Interface, making available to them the set lists, songs, keys, chord sheets, and so forth, aiding in their preparation for band practice). This should take place for at least two weeks. After this time frame, the Band Manager/Worship Leader will decide whether that person is ready to play within the Worship Arts Ministry.
3. Placement and Rotation
After the individual has been accepted as a WAM musician/vocalist (having auditioned, attended 2 band practices (minimum), and have met the acceptance of the Band Manager/Worship Leader, this person should be placed somewhere to serve in a musical position or area that (A) is in need of their pertinent ability and (B) lends itself to the interest/calling of the individual. This could be an area or position in anywhere of the following: the Epicentre Worship Band, the 180 Band, the Driven Band, special worship for Sunday morning services, Worship Choir, productions, and even as potential instrument/voice instructors for The Forte School. The individual should be aware that their involvement with the Epicentre Worship Band and in the WAM in general means that, in supporting the role of a team player, they may be instructed to participate/rotate with and into other worship bands and areas in the WAM, without exception.
Band Member Agreement
1.I will be at each and every band practice that I am expected to attend. If I have an emergency of any kind, I will contact my leaders and let them know what is going on.
2.I will check this site and Planning Center as often as necessary to stay up to date with announcements and to know the set list for services.
3.I know that I am expected to sit in the congregation for at least one sermon on Sunday and for the sermon on Thursday.
4.I know that it is strongly encouraged for me to attend any and all corporate prayer meetings whenever possible.
5.I know that I am expected to lead a lifestyle pleasing to the Lord, a Christlike lifestyle of purity, righteousness, holiness, and full of the Love of Christ.
6.I realize that I am considered part of the leadership of the church in being on a worship band, and that I am expected to adhere and follow the vision for worship and for the church that is held by Pastor Strayer, the Senior Pastor at CCWC (and the head Worship Leader).
7.I understand that being a member of Worship Arts is a position of servant leadership (serving others through leading), and in that leadership I am expected to exhibit the mind of Christ at all times, and serve and love others as He taught us. Worship Arts is a service ministry.
8.I will cooperate fully during band practices; I will have respect and submit myself to the direction and instruction of the Band Manager/Worship Leader, or whomever is running band practice. I do, however, realize that my suggestions and opinions matter and I am encouraged to share my thoughts with the band.
9.I understand that if I refuse to follow this agreement in any way, it may compromise my position/service in Worship Arts, and my leaders can dismiss me at their discretion, but only after I have had two interviews with one or more of my leaders about my behavior.
10.If I feel that I must resign from serving in the band(s), I will certainly discuss this with my leaders as soon as possible.
11.I know that my leaders in Worship Arts are available to meet with me, to talk to me, to listen to what I have to say, to pray for me and motivate me, to encourage me and to teach me in the ways of music and in worship, and most importantly in being a Christ Follower.
12.I realize that any position I serve at in Worship Arts is in no way permanent, and my leaders may reassign me to another band or position at any time; my leaders are always doing what is best for the ministry as a whole, and for myself as an individual.
13.I know that everyone who serves in any capacity at CCWC must undergo a background check, and I will also do this immediately if I have not already done so.
