Each course in Visual & Performing arts addresses the proficiencies required for graduation:
VPA1b. Create: Make/Develop - Create artwork with skill and knowledge of the medium.

Explore 2D media with an emphasis on color, contrast and depth.
Manipulate images to communicate ideas and opinions through composition, language and photography.
Create objects that are made to adorn, embellish, convey meaning and symbolize larger ideas.
Work with clay to learn about form, function and modeling.
Take what you know and explore new ideas, media, and techniques.
Make your own art are using technical advances, styles and techniques used in various times and places around the world. Facilitated by Betsy Brigham. Students will focus on Visual Art and Global Citizenship proficiencies. Speak with Debra if interested.

Explore functional and experiential spaces from an art point of view.
This class is an instrumental performing ensemble. Students will rehearse and perform band literature. Participants are exposed to ensemble playing, elements of band literature, terminology, self-discipline, with the long-term goal of a lifelong enjoyment of performing and an appreciation and understanding of performed music.
Prerequisites for this class are students who play and/or who have taken a minimum of one year of instrumental music lessons.
This performance ensemble is an outgrowth of the concert band. Jazz band is open to those students who perform on the following instruments: saxophone, trombone, trumpet, guitar, piano, bass, and piano.
Prerequisites for this course are one-year musical instrument instruction, membership in concert band and the desire to perform jazz/jazz rock music.
Open to students in grades 9 - 12 and by invitation to middle school students.
Students will have the opportunity to work together learning how to develop their voices and musicality. The goal of the course is to work towards putting together a set of songs that are used to explore various musical topics culminating in a performance in both the winter and spring.
Open to students in grades 9 - 12.
Students can explore various harmonizing instruments, these include piano, guitar, or ukulele. Students will learn how these instruments are used in popular music, and work towards playing along with their favorite songs. You do not need previous experience on any of the above instruments to be successful in this class.
