The Symphonic Band is our advanced band in which students play the highest level of high school wind band literature.
Students playing in the Green Canyon Symphonic Band will be provided these bench marks for a passing grade. Bench Marks are broken down into 3 categories: 1) Scales 2) Etudes and Solos 3) Rhythm
Scales
Students will need to pass off both their major and parallel minor scales by May 20th! These can be done through a video submission on Canvas or in person with Mr. Andersen.
Scales need to be 1 octave, at a minimum of 92bpm.
Use a video and make sure you are visible in the video.
Etude
Etudes and Solos are broken up into 3 segments throughout the school year. The first segment is the Audition for All-state. Students will need to pass them off in early November. The second segment is required participation in School Solo and Ensembles on March 4th. Solos will be performed for a grade at School S&E. The last segment will be another etude that will need to submitted for a grade in early May.
The 3rd segment etude will be Solo 3A, the student can choose which ending they take.
Rhythms
Rythms are broken into 3 segments through the school year. Students will need to pass of Rhythms 12-15 by May 20th.
Concert Band is open to all band students at Green Canyon and focuses on building individual and ensemble musical skills. Students will be challenged with a high level of music as they improve in their musicality.
