Small Group Lessons: 30 minute lessons once a week of about 5 students, but no more than 10 students. Groupings will be with like-instruments with students from your school. This is where we’re going to learn new notes, songs, and demonstrate with other players. These lessons will occur on a rotating schedule throughout the day.
Morning Band Rehearsals: 45 minutes rehearsals once a week with all the students in band in your school (or two)! These will occur once a week from 7:45-8:30 am. The goal of these is to build our band community and showcase what we’ve learned.
Assignments and Feedback: We will use Google Classroom and Smart Music as platforms for students to turn in recordings and get feedback. Video lessons will be provided weekly to provide additional resources for
Your instrument, and taking care of it:
PROVIDE a quality instrument
CLEAN your instrument at home (not at school) to keep it in good, working condition
SET UP & PACK UP carefully to avoid unnecessary repairs
REPAIR your instrument when needed and tell your band director
Playing your instrument:
SCHEDULE & ESTABLISH a regular time for practice, with good lighting, no distractions, using the music stand, and good posture.
DEVELOP your musicianship and note reading skills.
IMPROVE your technique by playing slowly at first and
ENCOURAGE practice with a good sound.
Outlook on band:
WORK through the challenges & OVERCOME the urge to give up.
LISTEN quietly, so you don’t disrupt learning.
