Language Arts
We read a myth this week called The Night the Moon Fell. Myths are stories that try to explain something in nature and this story explained the moon cycle. We worked on finding the plot and theme as we read stories this week.
We are reading and enjoying The One and Only Ivan. We drew a picture of Ivan on Friday. Hopefully everyone is enjoying the opportunity to share this book together with their family.
Math
The students have become secure with adding and subtracting within numbers up to 1,000, as we had a great deal of practice this week! The great news is the kids are starting to tell me how easy this skill is for them. Thank you for all the support at home. We will have a mid- module assessment on Thursday!

Science
We took an assessment in science on the properties of matter on Friday. We will move on to chemical and physical changes next week.
Extra Information
This year Student Council is holding a "Penny War" during March 23rd through March 27th. They will be collecting money for school supplies for families in need for the 20/21 school year.
Michelle Reising is in charge of putting together the yearbook this year. If you have any pictures from our classroom parties or activities that you would be willing to share for the yearbook, we would all be grateful if you could share them. You could send them by email to cloverdale.yearbook@gmail.com.
Earth club is collecting bread tags for recycling. Instead of bread tags ending up in the landfill, we will give them to SCARCE to add to the county's collection. The bread tags will be recycled into wheelchairs for underprivileged children. Please help Cloverdale School help other children and and the Earth by saving bread tags!
***Please make sure your child is reading 20 minutes every day to help them grow as a reader.
