Welcome to my classroom!
I'm entering my 18th year teaching in CCSD 89. Most of my career was spent as a classroom teacher in grades 4 and 5 but most recently, I took on the role of the gifted and talented specialist as the Challenge teacher. My undergraduate work was at Ball State University and my Master's in Mathematics Education is from National Louis University. I am also a Nationally Board Certified Teacher.
Personally, I am an avid reader and lover of logic puzzles. My husband is a special education teacher in Villa Park and we have three wonderful boys, Hunter (9), Dean (6), and Miles (3) as well as our dog, Holly. Our life is filled with family, laughter, a little frustration and fun.
Pedagogically, I am a firm believer in constructivist teaching where students learn through investigation and reflection. Conversations are a cornerstone of our classroom. I also work hard to build a greater understanding of the world in support of a compassionate and equitable future.
