Meet Our Principal

Dear Stocktrail Families,

Welcome to a new school year at Stocktrail Elementary! Whether you are joining us for the first time or are a returning member of our community, I am thrilled to partner with you on your child’s educational journey.

My name is Bertine Bahige, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of Stocktrail Elementary School. Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire), I have proudly called Gillette, Wyoming, home for over a decade. This community holds a special place in my heart, and I am truly grateful to be part of such a vibrant and supportive environment.

Education is a shared passion in my family. I am a proud husband and father of three, and my wife, also an educator, has taught kindergarten and first grade and currently serves as a special education teacher with more than fifteen years of experience. We are both proud alumni of the University of Wyoming—Go Pokes! I hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Mathematics Education from UW and was honored to be featured in the University’s “The World Needs More Cowboys” campaign. I spent ten years teaching mathematics at Campbell County High School before earning my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from South Dakota State University. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership through the University of Wyoming.

At Stocktrail, our mission is clear: to ensure every student succeeds academically, socially, and emotionally. We are fortunate to have a team of passionate, dedicated educators who are committed to nurturing each child's growth and potential. Our approach is rooted in data-driven instruction and personalized support, designed to meet students where they are and help them thrive.

One of the hallmarks of our school is our Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program—the only one of its kind in our district. Through this program, students become bilingual, biliterate, and culturally competent, equipping them with the skills they need to succeed in a diverse and global society. We are proud to welcome students from across the district and are committed to fostering a strong sense of belonging for all.

We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential to student success. Your involvement, ideas, and support are invaluable. I encourage you to stay engaged—connect regularly with your child’s teacher, attend school events, and reach out to me or our leadership team with any questions or feedback.

¡Bienvenidas a un nuevo año escolar en la Escuela Primaria Stocktrail! Ya sea que se unan a nosotros por primera vez o que sean parte de nuestra comunidad desde hace tiempo, me llena de entusiasmo colaborar con ustedes en el recorrido educativo de sus hijos.

Mi nombre es Bertine Bahige y tengo el honor de servir como director de la Escuela Primaria Stocktrail. Soy originario de la República Democrática del Congo (anteriormente Zaire) y he llamado con orgullo a Gillette, Wyoming, mi hogar durante más de una década. Esta comunidad tiene un lugar muy especial en mi corazón, y me siento profundamente agradecido de ser parte de un entorno tan acogedor y vibrante.

La educación es una pasión compartida en mi familia. Soy un orgulloso esposo y padre de tres hijos. Mi esposa, también educadora, ha enseñado en kínder y primer grado, y actualmente trabaja como maestra de educación especial con más de quince años de experiencia. Ambos somos egresados de la Universidad de Wyoming —¡Vamos, Pokes!—. Tengo una licenciatura en Matemáticas y Educación Matemática de la UW y tuve el honor de ser parte de la campaña “The World Needs More Cowboys” de la universidad. Enseñé matemáticas durante diez años en Campbell County High School antes de obtener mi Maestría en Liderazgo Educativo de South Dakota State University. Actualmente estoy cursando un Doctorado en Liderazgo Educativo en la Universidad de Wyoming.

En Stocktrail, nuestra misión es clara: garantizar que cada estudiante tenga éxito —académica, social y emocionalmente—. Contamos con un equipo de educadores apasionados y comprometidos que trabajan cada día para apoyar el crecimiento de cada niño. Utilizamos un enfoque basado en datos para guiar la instrucción y asegurar que cada estudiante reciba el apoyo personalizado que necesita para prosperar.

Una de las características más destacadas de nuestra escuela es el programa de Inmersión Dual, el único de su tipo en nuestro distrito. A través de este programa, los estudiantes tienen la oportunidad de convertirse en bilingües, alfabetizados en dos idiomas y culturalmente competentes, lo que los prepara para un futuro brillante en una sociedad diversa y global. Nos sentimos orgullosos de recibir estudiantes de todo el distrito y estamos comprometidos con crear un fuerte sentido de pertenencia para todos.

Creemos firmemente que una sólida colaboración entre el hogar y la escuela es esencial para el éxito de nuestros estudiantes. Su participación, ideas y apoyo son invaluables. Les animamos a mantenerse conectados: comuníquense regularmente con el maestro de su hijo, participen en los eventos escolares y no duden en acercarse a mí o al equipo administrativo con cualquier pregunta o sugerencia.
