Students are already using AI, whether we want them to or not. As educators, it’s our responsibility to help them use it ethically and responsibly in their learning. Many teachers and districts now ask students to declare their AI use and follow clear AI guidelines. This often includes identifying if and how AI was used in a project, as well as understanding what level of AI use is acceptable for a given assignment.
To make this easier, here are some practical examples you can adapt and add to your own assignments to ensure students use AI appropriately and transparently.
