Dates: June 22-25, 2026 (Monday - Thursday)

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. for introductory classes and 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. for all other classes

Grades: Introductory classes for rising 4rd-9th grade and Intermediate through Advanced classes for rising 5th-12th grade.

Location: James River HS, 3700 James River Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23113

Tuition: $250, due at the time of registration

Registration Deadline: June 1, 2025 or when classes reach capacity

Sample Day at Summer Strings on the James:

• 8:45-9:00 - Student drop-off (No entry before 8:45 am, please.)

• 9:00-10:30 - Main class rehearsal

• 10:30-10:40 - Break/Transition to recreation

• 10:40-11:30 - Recreation activities (kickball, nature walk, fiber arts, origami, Legos, or board games)

• 11:30-12:00 - Lunch

• 12:00-1:20 - Main class rehearsal and sectionals

• 1:20-1:30 - Break/Transition to enrichment

• 1:30-2:30 - Enrichment classes (advanced techniques, improvisation, didgeridoo, conducting, karaoke, Boomwhackers, or bucket drumming)

• 2:30-2:40 - Break/Transition to main class

• 2:40-4:00 - Main class rehearsal (Final performance will take place on Thursday at 3:00 pm.)

• 4:00 - Dismissal (Campers must be picked up on time each day.

• Please note that all "Intro" classes will end at 3:45 pm daily to stagger our dismissal times.

COST & WHAT'S INCLUDED:

• $175 covers instruction, sheet music, basic supplies for instruction and recreation, camp t-shirt, and final performance on Thursday at 3:00 pm. The final performance is free for family and friends.

• Instrument rental is included at no extra cost for all introductory classes.

• If your intermediate/advanced student needs to borrow an instrument, please email the director by May 15.

• Lunch is not provided. Please pack a peanut-free lunch and drink.
