Research- Gathering Sources Veiger
Today, you will learn:
how to navigate SIRS Researcher.
how to gather citations.
Step- by-Step Instructions:
Go to SIRS Researcher. You should have this bookmarked from the previous lesson. If not, do so now.
Find your topic in SIRS Researcher. If you have not selected a topic, click on one so you can follow along.
Go to your Google Drive, In the folder you have for this class, open up a Google Doc.
There are two difference formats teachers require.
If your teacher requires the MLA Format, name the Google Doc "(Your Topic) Works Cited". Mr. Veiger is having you use this format.Â
If your teacher requires the APA format, name the Google Doc "(Your Topic) References".
Go back to SIRS Researcher and click on one of the articles in your topic.
To the right, click on "CITE" for the article.
Select the proper citation format.
Click the "Copy" button.
Using CTRL+V, paste it into your Google Doc.
It's important to gather more information than you will actually use in your essay, because you may find that sources aren't as good as you thought when you go to actually use them. Your will read a lot more than you will actually use.
For the remainder of the class, research your topic. When you're done, keep looking. It's not really possible to be "done reading" when it comes to research because new sources are always being created.
