Students will:
Understand the basic layout and amenities in the library.
Define phishing as the use of fake emails/websites to trick users into providing secrets.
Emphasize that phishing is one of the largest digital threats in the world and it is growing exponentially.
Explain that phishing started with the “advance fee scam” (aka Nigerian prince letter).
Identify key characteristics that help identify a phishing email.
Lesson Agenda:
Listen as Mr. Reaser explains how to check out a book and enjoy other parts of the media center. You may have time to check out a book later.
Read a famous email from the past and be prepared to discuss.
Define Phishing. Define Spam.
We will view a slide show on Phishing. (It's below this.)
We will stop and discuss.
Examine some real emails sent to CCPS students in August of 2025.
Discuss the emails.
Look at the Phamous Phishing assignment.
Work on the assignment. There are paper copies, or you may complete the assignment digitally.
