Reading: This week we will continue reading Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library! We will be focusing on a variety of skills including characterization, types of conflict, inferencing, summarizing and using text evidence to support answers. In order to provide a good balance between fiction and nonfiction text, students will begin an "Author Study" in which they will read an informational passage about a famous author referenced in Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library. Our focus for this week will be the author Laura Ingalls Wilder.
ELA: Students will continue to study the different types of text structures (cause & effect, chronological order, compare & contrast, description and problem & solution). On Thursday, students will take their weekly Vocabulary Quiz over EFMLL: Round 5. Due to the fact I will be on the 8th grade Washington D.C. trip this year, there will be no vocabulary quiz the week before Spring Break :)
WEEKLY READING HOMEWORK: In preparation for the Reading AIR Test in April, students will be having nightly reading homework to help strengthen comprehension skills. The reading passages and questions closely mirror what appears on the state test. In order for students to get the most out of this practice, it is best that only the assigned passage is completed each night.
