Reading: This week students will be reading a nonfiction passage titled "Mountain of Fire” about the eruption of Mt. St. Helens. Our skill focus for the week will be summarizing and finding evidence in the text. Students will also be reviewing the four main types of conflict in a story (character vs. character, character vs. self, character vs. nature, and character vs. society). Students will also take a quiz over all the the information covered in our Reading Notebook on Friday (five story elements, levels of questioning, characterization, and types of conflict)
ELA: This week students will make corrections/finalize their Bucket List writing. On Thursday, students will take their weekly vocabulary quiz over Synonyms 2*. On Friday, students will receive a new set of spelling words (rupt- & vac-) for their upcoming test on October 22nd.
