Welcome to the Central Catholic High School Music Department! As a Christ-centered community rooted in Catholic faith, the Music Department strives to instill a life-long love and appreciation for music in every student through invaluable musical experiences and a welcoming learning environment. Through their experiences in the Music Department, students will develop self-discipline, teamwork, resilience, self-confidence, and responsibility. These are all character traits we hope our music students will take with them long after they leave the Music Department at Central Catholic.
Music Department Goals

Each student will take ownership and leadership in being a part of the Music Department
Each student will build up their own self-confidence & the confidence of those around them

I love the camaraderie, I feel that everyone is there for each other and we are always helping each other out.
- Luke Henehan, Class of 2028
I loved the way everyone was welcoming new people, and the fact that we were able to sound really blended in a few practices.
- Amelia Tiemann, Class of 2029
Getting to know people I normally wouldn't know.
- Paige Bauer, Class of 2028
I love getting to spend time with my friends and learning new things!- Cate Taylor, Class of 2026
I really love our sense of community, it's like a sibling type bond.
- Addison Whittington, Class of 2027
I love the energy every student who is in the music department brings every day. Everyone is so welcoming and sweet, it is like a small community.- Zuzu O’Donoghue, Class of 2027

I love the atmosphere and the community of choir. I always feel like I can try new things and experiment without being judged.
- Giovanna Bellino, Class of 2026
I love the environment, the inside jokes, the fun we have together, and the atmosphere. I think it's a great way to get to know people without judgement because we are all here for the same reason-to love and perform music!- Josie Bruemmer, Class of 2027
I love being involved in the music department because it's not just doing what I love, but it's doing what I love with other people in the community that if I hadn't done, or hadn't been involved with, would have never known about all the many talents that rest in the music department alone. - Annie Willett, Class of 2029
I love how welcoming everyone was when I joined, we're like a big family, and I have genuinely made so many friends through choir.
- Alanie Custer, Class of 2029
One thing I love about being involved in the music department at Central Catholic is the people I've met because of it. It has also helped me become more confident in myself.
- K.C. Ullrich, Class of 2026
I feel like it's a representation of the school itself. We all are people of Christ, coming together and creating something beautiful through our talents and using it to inspire others and praise the Lord, just like how in music we come together with our musical talents and use them to create beautiful things, inspire people, and praise the Lord.- Anna Head, Class of 2029
I loved being involved in the music department because of how we get to make music with other people. I also love how the whole choir has a special connection with everyone else in the choir and how we are all happy for each other when something good happens for a certain person.- Faith Young, Class of 2028
I love how we have made new friendships, and made older friendships stronger through our love of music.
- Chiara Swantek, Class of 2029
I love the friendships that it builds and I also love how much we are pushed to become the best musicians we can be! I also really appreciate that our directors care about us as people more than just musicians.- Ruthie Doering, Class of 2026
I love that Mrs. Young is very engaging with her students, and I enjoy the music pieces that Mrs. Baxter chooses.
- Benjamin Micklich, Class of 2027
The Central Catholic Music Department has given me a safe and supportive environment that has transformed my vocal and musical abilities. The community we have within the department is unlike any other place in the school. I started just liking to sing, but now, I'm obsessed with growing alongside others. What sets Choir apart is the environment it provides. I look forward to Choir even more than my other classes because we genuinely are friends. I show up to my favorite class with all my closest friends every other day, just overjoyed. Even if it's just practicing my horrendous piano playing before Choir starts — our music department is always open to learning and practice. We are constantly exposed to new opportunities to perform and learn from. Choir has allowed me to be a leader. I strive to reflect the beloved leadership I had under the Class of ‘23 as a freshman, and Class of ‘25 seniors like Anna and Eliza, who are not only leaders but friends. They inspire me to continue to raise the bar for the music we can achieve together.
-Bridget Herr, Class of 2026
