The Central Catholic Concert Band meets during 8th block on Gold Days throughout the school year and is a non-audition group. They perform at three concerts during the school year. Students have the opportunity to audition for ILMEA, participate in BRMM Member for a Day at Illinois State University, participate in Solo & Ensemble, the ISU Concert Band Festival, and other area festival bands. Every spring, the Concert Band travels to all of the area partner schools to showcase what musical opportunities are available at Central Catholic. Students get to perform various repertoire ranging from traditional, marches, lyrical, medley, secular, sacred, and pop culture.

Pep Band is a non-audition band that performs at football and basketball games. Pep Band helps bring a sense of community pride and high energy to sporting events. The pep band performs a wide variety of tunes ranging from rock, pop, and current tunes for all to enjoy!

Our Percussion Ensemble meets once a week before school on the first Gold Day of the week from 7:30am-8:10am. This group is primarily open for percussionists, but if any other student is interested in learning Percussion techniques, they are more than welcomed to. August through the first week in October the Percussion Ensemble focuses on cadences, grooves, and pep band music for the football games and to help prepare for the basketball games. The remainder of the semester focuses on preparing a piece for the Christmas concert. During the second semester, members will work on music to prepare for Solo & Ensemble in March and the Spring Concert in May.

Mrs. Regan Baxter is a central Illinois native hailing from Metamora, Illinois where she was very active in her high school band program. She attended Illinois State University from 2015-2018 where she majored in music education and studied string bass under Dr. William Koehler. During her time at ISU, she marched flute in the ISU Big Red Marching Machine, played string bass for the ISU Symphonic Winds and Wind Symphony, along with the ISU Jazz Band. After graduating, she taught in the Quincy area for a few years before moving back up to the Bloomington-Normal area to be closer to family. In addition to teaching at Central Catholic, Mrs. Baxter also teaches 5th Grade and Junior High Band at Corpus Christi Catholic School since January 2023. She also assists with various marching bands in the area. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and playing video games with her husband, knitting, crocheting, and an avid pop culture nerd. She has two cats named Minerva and Bailey, and an Irish Wolfhound named Neassa.
