Mr. Galo Gutierrez is Central Catholic's Band Director and leader in the Fine Arts Department. Going on his 4th year in Central, with 8 years of music teaching experience, Mr. Gutierrez leads the Mighty Button Band along with Central Catholic's first ever Guitar Ensemble. Additionally, he teaches the Music Appreciation classes and serves as lead music minister in mass celebrations and special services. The charismatic and progressive approach of Mr. Gutierrez's teaching style motivates the students to do more than play on the instrument. He strives to foster the talents of tomorrow's leaders by modeling instruction and giving opportunity to perform, build community, manage time, and lead. The Central Catholic Band Hall is a welcoming environment for anyone who seeks to try something new, and Mr. Gutierrez humbly invites those to discover the musical side of Central Catholic's rich legacy and get involved.
Mr. Gutierrez is a native San Antonian and graduated from UTSA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. He is passionate about music and even dedicates time away from school being a music tutor to further support student growth in the arts. Mr. Gutierrez loves serving as music minster for local parishes under the Archdiocese of San Antonio such as St. Luke, St. Dominic, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and St. Anthony de Padua. Overall, he is considered a strong, outgoing instructor who seeks expansion on the students' talents, transcending from one instrument into another or giving opportunities to debut them to the public.
"I love being in a teaching environment
where I can openly incorporate God in my lessons."
Mr. Gutierrez is supported by his wife, Cynthia, and is a proud father of three daughters, Annabelle, Arianna, and Annaliese.
