Count On Me 2026: Intercultural Project for Mandarin Students
This term, Year 9 and Year 10 non-MEP students are taking part in Count On Me, an international research project delivered during normal lessons. The project is a collaboration between the UCL Institute of Education, The Education University of Hong Kong, Christ’s College Finchley, and Herz Jesu Institut, Mühlbach (Italy). Students explore themes such as nature, friendship, and space through creative group work linked to the curriculum.
Recently, some students joined two online events. In the project launch event with UCL IOE Masters students, they watched presentations about what culture means to different people and shared what they had learned about the project.
Students also took part in an online exchange with students from Herz Jesu Institut in Italy, where Italian, German, and Ladin are spoken. During the call, students taught each other greetings in several languages, including Mandarin and Spanish. They also compared school days, discussed favourite subjects and the languages they speak. Our students felt very lucky when they discovered that our Italian friends' school day starts at 7:45am and doesn’t finish until 3–5pm!
The exchange was a great opportunity for students to practise languages, learn about another school culture, and make new international connections. Students are looking forward to continuing the project and learning more about different cultures through future activities and exchanges.

Dance Festival
On Monday, our CCF Dance Troupe performed two routines at the Barnet Schools Dance Festival — an exciting opportunity for students to take to the professional stage at the Arts Depot in North Finchley and perform in front of a large audience.
The students were incredible and received fantastic feedback from parents, staff from other schools and the festival organisers.
The first piece was a Year 7 commercial-style routine, choreographed by our talented Year 10 students Eliza, Zoe and Tolin. This collaboration created some wonderful cross-year relationships and perfectly captured the positive, supportive atmosphere of Dance Club.
The second performance was a powerful lyrical routine performed by our Year 9 and Year 10 dancers. The emotion and expression the students brought to the piece truly captivated the audience.
It was a wonderful evening, and we are already looking forward to next term’s dance showcases where we will be able to celebrate even more of our students’ talent.

"My name is Asal and I am a part of the dance club at CCF. We went to the Art Depot on Monday and we performed two dances. We had such a good experience, I really enjoyed performing on stage and it was really fun and a great confidence boost. I hope we can do it again soon!"
